RVD taking time off, details of length of runs

As we've noted in the Elite section of PWInsider.com, Rob Van Dam is expected to finish up his current run with WWE at this week's TV tapings.

As we've previously reported, Van Dam's deal calls for him to work in 90 day intervals, so he is finishing the first cycle that began at Money in the Bank this week.

We are told that Van Dam's deal allows him to take a break for as long as he wants in order to refresh his batteries and then he will return down the line for another 90 day cycle.

The unique deal was one Triple H signed off on in order to have RVD under WWE's umbrella but still allowing him time where he can be off the road and working on outside projects.

We've also heard Van Dam has a deal on the table to write an autobiography over the next year.

So in other words, never expect Van Dam to hold a title then when we see him.

Looking at that, how come they decided to bury him a couple of weeks ago on that RAW, when they could just have been told that he has this kind of deal?

He could, but don't expect a long run.

It's the best thing. It keeps him fresh everytime he returns. He doesn't need a title. He's already over. In fact wrestling would be better in general if more guys were allowed to take time off and then come back before they get stale.

So he gets paid what I'm guessing is a great amount for 90 days, takes a break for as long as he likes to refresh his batteries, smokes weed and uses his time to get it out of his system before Wellness, then goes back for another 90 days, repeating the cycle.

I'd imagine RVD trying to write an autobiography would be a lot like Tracy Jordan trying to write an autobiography, where he needs help from others because he can't remember anything, spouts a loud of crazy stories and recaps his entire life up until the point the publishers turned down the option on his autobiography.
