In late 1994 Bushwhackers added to their gimmick slightly with new outfits, some ritual called Hongi and by 1996 added the mascot. I only remember it once so not sure if they ever used it after. They were pretty much done with storylines by 1992 but were still around until late 1996 and used usually when a face team was needed for a tag title tournament. I would have much preferred them in a Royal Rumble like 1993, 1994 or 1996 as opposed to the non-roster guys that WWF fans wouldn't know.

Family friendly silliness, tacked onto a gimmick that even Luke & Butch were done with by then but were basically stuck with because Vince kept throwing them TONS of money at them so WCW didn't approach them.
By the end they didn't even want to go to WCW, they just wanted to go back home and do their own thing there.

WWF Magazine did a small bit on them retiring (no big article but a small section on a page). The story was (real or not?) that they were returning to New Zealand to open a restaurant. I think it was on the same page as the tribute to Sweet Sapphire.

I was such a mark for the Bushwhackers as a kid...

I think they were doing a turning into Australians gimmick.
I'm amazed they were around till 96 because as a team they had long lost all significance by 92 and were on their last legs by 94.

The Bushwackers' longevity amazes me. They never really had any major feuds, were never super-serious contenders for the belts, and were treated like JTTS nearly from the beginning, comedic ones at that, they somehow managed to remain surprisingly over throughout their run. I wonder what their merchandise sales were like, and if it, along with their popularity elongated their careers there. Retrospectively, they seemed like fairly easy-going guys that never got into trouble and were willing to do pretty much anything asked of them, which I'm sure helped.
On that note, I think they made the right choice to leave the ultra-violent Sheepherders behind forever.

I was just skimming the Bushwackers wikipedia page to try to get a sense of their timeline, and learned they started teaming for NWA New Zealand in 1964, and were teaming in the U.S. by the next year. I assumed they were still doing occasional indies, but apparently they haven't teamed since 2001. Still, that's 37 years of almost continuous teaming up. Does anyone else come close to that?

Definitely had an interesting career. I remember at one point there being a rumor that only one of the Bushwackers was at X7; the other guy was supposedly a lookalike replacement due to the original's health (can't remember now if they said it was Williams or Miller). Guess that was just a rumor. Damn, now I really have to go watch that battle royale again. I never knew they brought Miller back for a skit with MVP on Smackdown. Doesn't seem to be on YT though. Bummer.

I think they were doing a turning into Australians gimmick. As you are New Zealand's ambassador on these forums, on behalf of Australia, you can keep them.

Yep it was at house show in 2008 also Tony Garea came too Sad thing is a lot of people in the crowd had no idea who he was.
