I've been thinking a bit about WrestleMania 29 and how bad a show it was, both technically with having to cut things and not even giving Rock vs. Cena a promo video before the match, and from a storyline aspect (Rock vs. Cena II, Ryback vs. Mark Henry, ADR vs. Jack Swagger). It got me wondering: Has there been a year that's rebounded as much as 2013 has? We go from a really, really awful buildup to WrestleMania to Daniel Bryan being in the main event on Raw.

To me every year is up and down like crazy, to the point where I wonder if it's me being insane or if it's actually happening.

Too bad it's rebounding back the other way.

A year is an eternity in today's WWE structure.

Too bad it's rebounding back the other way. Exactly what I was thinking.

It seems like WWE has been on this Up and Down slope since 2010.

It seems like WWE has been on this Up and Down slope since 2010. That's when the established roster of top stars started dropping off (HBK and Batista retired, followed by Edge a year later, and Triple H and Undertaker transitioned into wrestling a handful of matches a year, mostly on PPV). The weird thing is that now, over three years later, a new top tier of guys hasn't really stabilized yet, probably because they know they can still rely on veterans like Rock and Brock to come back and pop the big PPV buyrates.

It's been a profoundly strange year. Sort of like a new New Generation.

Honest to God, the contrast is absurd. Around Wrestlemania, ADR was a face, Punk a Heel, Undertaker was around, HHH a Face, Lesnar was around, Ryback a Face, The Rock was Champ, Jack Swagger was competing for the World Title, Dolph Ziggler was a Heel going for the World Title, Daniel Bryan was floundering around in a Tag Team with Kane, and Chris Jericho was jobbing to Fandango.
Now its October....ADR is a Heel, Punk's a Face, Undertaker hasn't been seen since May, HHH a Heel, Lesnar is gone again, Ryback a Heel and managed by Paul Heyman, The Rock's gone again, Swagger is in a Tag team with Antonio Cesaro floundering around, Daniel Bryan is Main Eventing for the WWE Title in a feud with HHH, Kane is M.I.A., Ziggler is a Face just floundering around and Chris Jericho is gone again.
Ridiculous.
