All well built Heel Authority angles have to build to the point where the conquering babyface finally says enough is enough and snaps (to the delight of the fans) by finally getting their hands on the evil boss who has held them back for far too long.
All of the above did happen, I don't question that, but what I have to question is why was it Big Show in that moment?
WWE knew they were going in to build a big time heel authority figure in Triple H, so why when selecting which baby face would be the one who gets the huge moment of the first KO on the boss, did they pick Big Show? Why not a younger superstar, one in the need of a big career positive moment which would push them on to greater heights.
There are a lot of candidates out there, don't think I'm just suggesting it should be have been Daniel Byran and Daniel Bryan only, but really when you really think about who should be getting the big push out of main event angles in 2013 why would you pick Big Show?
Think about it, if they gave the First Stunner on Vince McMahon to an established/vetern guy at that time such as, say, Vader or Jeff Jarrett how would have Stone Cold gotten the break and the chance to run on and become the face of the comapny?
I'm just quite confused. Any answers?

I'd bet my bottom dollar that one of the higher-ups was impressed with Big Show's first round of crying with Big Johnny, and decided that he should get this angle so he could do it over and over again.

Obviously because Daniel Bryan just isn't good enough, and somehow Show will emerge as the fresh young new face of the WWE.

They were pretty much teasing it with the way HHH and Steph were directly antagonizing Show, so he kinda had to have the moment of knocking Trips' lights out.

Oh no, don't get me wrong the way they've gone through the storyline with Show makes it make perfect sense that it would be Big Show doing it. I'm just wondering why they bothered to pick Big Show in the first place. Why have Big Show be the one whose broke, who needs a job so badly he'll do horrible things etc... that could easily have been anyone else. Someone younger who could use this push to go on to main event and front the company etc |

My theory is that HHH believes that Daniel Bryan couldn't take him out, so it had to be someone that's physically superior to HHH. He's The Asskicker.

That was their plan from the very beginning, regardless of whether or not the fans were chanting it. They set it all up so the logical assumption was that it'd be Big Show to eventually go The Shield and Orton. It's not like they had completely different plans and then they suddenly heard fans chanting "Big Show" and decided to change them at the last minute. After all, there were plenty of fans chanting for CM Punk to save Bryan earlier in the feud. Why didn't the WWE listen to the fans then? |

The angle would have been much more dynamic if the Big Show still had his Iron Clad contract and was unfirable, because then HHH and Steph would have to play nice with him but they could still book him against the other faces for maximum destruction. Manipulating him more subtly than "LOL we own your house now!"

Because they needed someone imposing to do their dirty work prior to snapping for the angle to proceed, and Big Show is the only guy that fit the mold really.
Unless you want to repackage someone like Brodus.

Honestly, I was confused too, to the point part of me wonders whether Big Show is not destined for our TVs much longer. I know Hunter and Show are good friends, wouldn't shock me if he wanted to give him an eventful send off. Though I'm probably wrong and Show will still be here in five years time.

I figure if it wasn't Show it would have been Cena.
I'm glad Show got it. I had a feeling it was never going to be Bryan, although I still hope he gets the biggest push out of this whole thingy dingy.

The angle was handled badly. Show shouldn't have been fired then come back half smiling, I found it was kind of a weak payoff.
Somehow Trips should have ordered him to knock out his own kid, or a disabled person with a Bryan sign in the crowd, or to throw a couple of sandwishs in the bin i don't know something HORRIBLE. Then after 10 minutes of crying he would have snapped and go on a rampage mode resulting with him knocking out Trips. Great television right here folks.

I dunno, HHH/Steph haven't really been as antagonistic towards anyone else as much as Big Show. I mean, even Daniel Bryan has had more with Randy Orton than HHH. As for "Why Big Show?".. They really didn't have anyone else. All the other "big guys" are either off TV or doing something else and it just doesn't work with someone who hasn't been there for a long time.

I know I'm sounding like a stereotypical IWC member, but Big Show needs to be putting over younger talent. Like him or not, Big show has been putting over younger talent for MANY years now. In fact he tends to take a clean loss in nearly every feud he's in, younger or older talent and often loses the feuds. There's a lot of criticisms for Big show but this just isn't one of them. Most recently, and I know ADR isn't young but they were trying to build a new face so the point stands, Show feuded with ADR when they were trying to build ADR as a face and Show just lost to him over and over. |
