I'm just going to do my favourite up until 1996 off the top of my head and in no order (except for the first).
Survivor Series 1989 Royal Rumble 1990 Wrestlemania 6 Wrestlemania 3 Survivor Series 1987 SummerSlam 1989 Survivor Series 1995 Royal Rumble 1991 Survivor Series 1988 SummerSlam 1993
I have to mention SummerSlam 1992 because I was there. But other than the two main matches, it hasn't aged that well.

List threads are so tedious when people don't explain why they rate the items on the list so highly.

in no order (love em all):
Wrestlemania XVII (no need to explain. TLC2, Rock/Austin, end of the Attitude Era, nuff said) Wrestlemania XIX (maybe the best card ever. loved Brock/Angle and Jericho/HBK) Wrestlemania XX (best WM main event ever, great undercard too)
Summerslam 1998 (awesome card, you had hardcore, comedy, future stars, HHH/Rock becoming bigtime players, good main event with an excellent built) Summerslam 2002 (just great wrestling. weak built except for Brock's carcass-filled road to the championship though) Summerslam 2013 (two ***** matches? yes please)
No Way Out 2001 (Austin/HHH was so good, bah gawd. don't forget Rock/Angle!) Money In The Bank 2011 (what can you say? just the best wrestling can offer) Canadian Stampede 1997 (greatest atmosphere I've ever seen/heard on a wrestling show. everyone gave 100% here) Backlash 2000 (similar to Summerslam 98, you had a mix of everything fun/intriguing about wrestling)

10. No Mercy 2002 Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar is my favorite HiaC. Benoit/Angle vs Edge/Mysterio. Even Triple H vs Kane is solid.
9. Royal Rumble 2000 NYC was hot in the middle of winter. HHH vs Cactus Jack is a great story. Rumble match was fun. Hardyz and Dudleyz go over hard. Tazz's debut was well done. Who could ever forget Mae Young?
8. Survivor Series 2002 First Elimination Chamber is also the best one. Lesnar vs Big Show was fun. One of the better Diva's matches. Edge/Rey vs Guerreros vs Angle/Benoit. The reaction for Scott Steiner was amazing.
7. Royal Rumble 2001 My favorite Rumble match. Solid undercard with the Benoit/Jericho ladder match and Angle vs Triple H
6. WrestleMania 19 - Amazing card from top to bottom. Something for everyone. Love Brock/Angle and HBK/Jericho. Hogan/McMahon is a show stealer. Did I mention this show also had Rock/Austin?
5. Summerslam 1998 I love this show. Everything great about this time period. Hot crowd. Great build. Main matches had been building for months. Best Austin vs Undertaker match. Listen to JR's commentary. It's some of his best.
4. Vengeance 2005 HBK/Angle II, Batista vs HHH and Cena vs Jericho vs Christian are all match of the year candidates. Fun show from top to bottom. Best single brand PPV
3. SummerSlam 2002 HBK's return vs HHH, Lesnar vs Rock, Mysterio vs Angle, Benoit vs RVD, Edge vs Guerrero, Jericho vs Flair. Wow
2. Money in the Bank 2011 Such a special feeling. It's surreal. Even if you hate Punk, you can't deny the emotion in that whole show.
1. WrestleMania 17 Best card ever. Something for everyone.
Honorable mentions:
WrestleMania 14: The best buildup EVER for a PPV. Every match had a few months buildup.
Backlash 2000: As someone mentioned, everything fun about a wrestling show. This is a PPV you show someone if you want to get them into wrestling.
No Way Out 2001: HHH vs Austin is a brutal match. Rock vs Angle is fun. Steph vs Trish is more enjoyable than it should be
Vengeance 2003: The second best single brand show.
SummerSlam 2013: A modern-classic. Great buildup to most of the top matches.

Too redundant, my list would be full of WrestleManias. I'm trying to remember if I even BOUGHT 10 "non-WM" PPVs since 1997. (Well, there was a handful in 1998-99 and a couple from 2002.)
