To me, Chris was one of those guys that never rubbed me right or wrong, he was just kind of there.
Pit him against somebody I actively dislike and it's all "Yeah, get him, Chris!" But leave him off TV for a few weeks and it's like "Who?" I never thought dude found his "voice," so to speak.
I enjoyed the Masterlock Challenge though. Shades of body slamming Yokozuna. It built him and tried to sell the full nelson.
I'm all for old timey finishers btw. I'd like to see more of them put in place.

Anyone remember the really weird segment where he went to challenge an audience member, and the guy started going on about how he'd just gotten out of prison for murder? What was the deal with that? Don't think we ever saw that guy again, and the way Masters cut him off and went on with the segment kinda makes me think it was just a fan who decided to go into storyline business for himself.
Also, two words: Crazy Train.

All I liked about Masters was his entrance and theme. Everything else about his was boring, including the Masterlock challenge which was a fastforward moment for me.

My favorite match with him was against HBK at Unforgiven 2005.

Loved the Masterlock Challenge. I've always been a mark for jobber squashes, submission holds, showy segments, and the Full Nelson in general. Clearly, this was designed with me in mind...

The Masterlock caused a lot of trouble back in my middle school days.
