Damien Sandow explains the ending of the MITB match

Damien Sandow spoke with Philly.com about his victory winning the Money in the Bank ladder match.

“I’m not sure if you saw this or not, but Cody [Rhodes] was actually inches away from the briefcase then the ladder was about to fall,” Sandow, who actually pushed Cody off the ladder, said. “And I went to go hold the ladder, but as Cody went to fall I went to go catch him but I was just about a second too late.”

“I knew Cody would have tried to climb it again so to prevent him from further injuring himself, I, in what many are calling the most heroic act in the history of the WWE, climbed a broken ladder and grabbed the briefcase myself from further injury. That’s the kind of human being I am.”

His selflessness is a lesson to us all.

I mean, everyone else in the match is focused on the briefcase and getting it to further their own careers ... but he and he alone notices the ladder is broken and that Cody is at risk. So he puts his life on the line -- true heroism -- to save Cody from himself.

He makes me ashamed of myself and my cowardly actions, but he is an inspiration.

Ha, I was thinking of 80s Bobby Heenan on commentary when I was reading Sandow's quote.

I used to love when Heenan would make ridiculous explanation after ridiculous explanation justifying the actions of the heels, and then finally, when the heels got SO dastardly there was just so justifying it, Heenan would say, "my monitor just went dark, what happened?"
