It dawned on me that it has already been two years now since the disfigured and grotesque Cody Rhodes reintroduced the classic Intercontinental Championship design to the WWE. Sure doesn't feel like it, and hopefully it remains the same for the next, oh, 10 years or so.

This version of the title and the previous one from the attitude era are both good looking belts. Either one works.

Still hoping for Jericho to win that version.

I want the black strap back.
While I know the white strap was around in last eras, nowadays I can't help but associate it with Cody Rhodes the same way that people associate the spinner belt with John Cena. I do have to admit the Miz carried it well and made it his own. I would've liked to see him with the Attitude version (they should've had Miz pose with that instead of the Winged Eagle during that retro title photoshoot).

Best looking belt in the company, hands down. One of my favorite belts ever. It's just classy.

Best belt in the company. If only it had a black strap.

That just reminds me that Cody Rhodes spent two years wasted as an irrelevant, generic midcarder after striking gold with his "disfigured" gimmick before finally being given another chance to do something substantial again with the Rhodes Brothers team.

I really like the look of the belt, but the white strap clashes with certain wrestler's attires. If they went with black, it'd look good on anyone.

Cody's matching white gear with the vest really helped make him look like the ideal guy to carry that belt at the time.

Cody's matching white gear with the vest really helped make him look like the ideal guy to carry that belt at the time. To me it just rendered the belt into a piece of his attire. While I liked Cody getting a steady push, I didn't like that they weren't pushing any real contenders for him to defend against. That non title feud with Orton Made Cody look good, but hurt the belt.

What I remember most from that is someone (Teddy?) sending out a ready John Morrison to fight Cody for the title in his street clothes.
Cody won in about 7 minutes. Clean.

That was when Morrison was losing every damn time he went out. I'm pretty sure he lost his feud to R-Truth on Superstars if I remember correctly. No wonder the poor guy left.

everytime EVERYTIME I hear about the IC belt I stop for a few seconds and ask myself who's IC champ. Then I grimace thinking about that damn Kofi Kingston.
Then I realize the holder is actually Curtis Axel and I curse.

Kofi is the midcard-transitional run guy
He will beat Axel for the belt before a heel wins it from him
