"WHO DO YOU THINK WE WORK FOR? What a stupid statement that was."
Just got to say I loved that little conversation from RAW with Cole and JBL during the D-Bry/Ambrose match. Though Cole did try to save it with "I meant it's some under the table stuff".

JBL is a pain to listen to for me most of the time but man is he the only one that any makes sense half the time.

The only times I enjoy listening to JBL these days are when he gets excited over something like one of Cesaro's feats of strength, or Luke Harper knocking somebody into another plane of existence with a discus lariat.

I don't know if I just never pay attention to commentary but JBL seemed extra vocal last night. I thought he was gonna beat the shit out of Cody Rhodes at one point. It was so random.

JBL was terrible tonight (as usual). I don't get why he was so intent on telling Cody to shut up when he was saying how great The Shield are. Especially since JBL is always saying they're amazing too.

"But AJ Lee is at rignside and Nikki isn't" "AJ hasn't done anything the entire match Michael ." "Then why isn;t nikki there?" "Cause they use twin magic Cole, they cheat. This is supposed to be one on one!" "But AJ's out there." "Cole the match is over, Tamina won. AJ was too busy talking to her title to do anything." "What a punishement for Brie Bella to be in this match..." "It was a great one on one match with the daughter of Superfly Jimmy Snuka- this was a great opportunity for brie bella." "With the odds stacked against her with AJ at ringside." <JBL gives up>

Cody deserved it. He Matt Hardy'd that chance while at the commentary table. JBL was getting him quite good. Its a shame Cody is such milquetoast when he talks. At least Goldust can just be weird and no one thinks twice. Cody is no mouthpiece though and has no ability to ad-lib whatsoever. I imagine the "WWE way" of scripting limits him somewhat, but he did not adapt well to any of that conversation Monday. It was hard to sit through. Frankly, I hope the Usos win on Sunday.

"With the odds stacked against her with AJ at ringside." <JBL gives up> This is a perfect example of JBL working with dimes/B+ talent when he himself is a dollah/A+ player. I say move Renee Young up to RAW to replace Cole, that way she will be the de-facto 'good guy' (if she is capable of calling play-by-play, I'm sure she could learn it real fast by watching old Jim Ross tapes she's a smarty pants!) and JBL won't be so quick to bring down his 110% full force venom on her since he's an old-country-boy at heart, and their kryptonite is being respectful to all women (especially hot ones). Jerry is a lock on RAW commentary after his heart attack, but... him sitting next to Renee every week in close proximity might be too much for his pacemaker after a few weeks... Keep Cole and JBL on Smackdown because they are gold together without a 3-person IMHO.

Even when Cody was doing decent rebuttals, JBL just shouted all over him. And who does that benefit? Does it get Cody more over? No. Does it get the Shield more over? No. Does it get anyone more over? No. Does it make the retired blowhard feel better about himself? Yes.

Imo what hurts Cody is that his biggest strength is playing a gimmick. And when you take that away from him, there isn't much to look at. At least someone like Cena (his look and never say die attitude), Bryan (his wrestling prowess), Dolph (his selling and his flash), Miz (his ability to carry himself like a top star, even as a jobber), Christian (his charisma), and even guys in the mid and lower card like Kofi (high flier), Bourne (high flier), Kidd (technical and high flier), Gabriel (high flier), and Riley (charismatic hybrid who meshes brawling, and power moves with cruiserweight-esque athleticism) have some type of "thing" that compensates for any "genericness" to varying extents. And I don't think Cody has that, aside from DAT MOONSAULT and some aside moves lifted from his brother and Bob Holly. Cody needs to be Dashing or Disfigured or something along that line again. Sadly, while WWE is high on Cody and wants to make him a breakout star, they feel that "gimmicks" don't work at the main event level so they strip him of his awesomeness.
