I love Rey Mysterio. He's been an amazing talent for the WWE over the years & put on some of the best matches in the history of the company. However, he's obviously wearing down & getting close to the end of his career. What could be left for him?
I don't see him winning a world title again - although, I wouldn't be surprised if they paired him up in a program with Del Rio for the title, which would be really stagnant. I would much prefer him to reunite his tag team with Sin Cara as I feel that's the best use for him at this stage of his career; he doesn't need to carry a whole match by himself, he can get a rest during the match & he can still get his signature stuff in.
Also, should Axel retain at the Hell in a Cell PPV, I wouldn't mind seeing Rey challenge him for the belt. Same can go for a match with Ambrose for the US Title.
I just really hope he's used right & if he's too broken down, makes the right decision for his career.

Beats Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship, occasionally defends it against upper-midcarders like Damien Sandow and makes them look good while working a limited schedule, and takes the belt with him when he retires in a year or two.

If he absolutely refuses to listen to reason and comes back again, it needs to be in a tag team where someone else can carry the workload, while Rey gets the hot tag and hits all his crowd-pleasing moves to wrap up the match.

He said he was using stem cells and hoping for a cure for arthritis to keep wrestling.
Just...stop.

Rey is a groundbreaking performer with many, many, great matches under his belt, won both world titles, experienced a renaissance of popularity with his WWE run, and made a career of being one of the most exciting high flyers in the history of the business.
He has nothing left to prove. Hanging the boots up, getting himself a nice training job/road agent position or just sitting back and enjoying his time off is the best thing for his health and his legacy.

Retirement is the only option that isn't f***ing stupid. he's at the point where if he ends up crippled I won't even feel sorry for him.

He still needs to job to Triple H, so he can come back, do that and beat Sin Cara at WM30...and then retire.
I'm half-kidding, actually. I like Rey. I just hope he doesn't really hurt himself. His last match needs to be him unmasking, though.

His last match needs to be him unmasking, though. Meh he's been unmasked before in WCW and it's easy to find videos and pictures of him unmasked. Plus I will find it hilarious to see Rey Mysterio returning on a episode on Raw as a guest with a mask on or if he gets a job as a trainer they show footage Rey Mysterio training wrestlers while wearing his mask.

1 last farewell match at Wrestlemania.
Not against Sin Cara because there is no way you can play that match like they will both be healthy at the same time.
How about Mysterio vs Cesaro?

Retire, maybe have him as an occasion drop-in to pop the crowd on big Raws or in the Rumble or something.

Retire, make the occasional, non-wrestling appearance on WWE TV.

Either a legends contract or release him and pay him per appearance. Rey can wrestle one off filler matches against heel jobbers like 3MB or Fandango, or The dregs of NXT who just have to bump for all of Rey's signature spots. Rey is too volatile to be relied upon for feuds, story lines, or anything that requires long term planning. And I disagree with the idea that "Rey Mysterio HAS to put over the next token masked Mexican guy" or that Rey's last match HAS to be against another masked guy just to do some farcical "torch passing", when WWE should be hiring/signing/pushing masked guys because they're good, not specifically they wear a mask.

I enjoy that the idea of tag team with Sin Cara is an idea that can help with the problem that he is hurt too much.
Good old reliable Sin Cara.

The sadder part is that all their tag matches (including the recent one on the Mexico tour) seem to wind up with Mysterio doing most of the in-ring work anyway, because as crippled as he is, he's still less stiff and awkward in the ring than Sin Cara.
