OrtonWWE Championship: 8 World Heavyweight Chmapionship: 3 Cena WWE Championship: 11 World Heavyweight Chmapionship: 3 *Cena has the biggest amount of reigns in company history with the WWE Championship I thought this deserves its own thread (if not mods feel free to lock), but after HIAC look at those numbers. It's insane (and not in the good way I normally mean when I say that), I don't want to get a rise or start arguments about this, but more putting a spotlight on the overall World Title reigns of both, as well as their individual WWE Championship and WHC numbers. Cena will defeat Flair for sure now....

And yet, if you ask for memorable reigns, I can come up with...like, 3 between the two of them.

And yet, if you ask for memorable reigns, I can come up with...like, 3 between the two of them. Between the two of them I can only really remember by name and overall being memorable: Their first world title wins at SS and WM respectively, Age of Orton, The Year Long Cena one, Ortons reign leading up to WM...I'm struggling here, problem is most of them cant even count as reigns as for examp,e when they had the feud that ended in the Ironman match they were swapping the WWE Championship so much back and forth

Flair's reigns are bound to be broken. What better way to beat Flair than one of those two. I'm sure Flair agrees.

Titles have been meaningless for years anyhow. If they don't care, I sure don't.
DBrys combined 2 reigns of like 12 hours and the like is "worse".

It's just the WWEs way of manufacturing Cena's spot in the history books.

Thing is, half of Ric Flairs reigns were meaningless too. They would often hot shot the title, so they could have Flair win it back at a big PPV, or supercard. The whole idea that it's a travesty for someone like Cena to break the record is overplayed.

The whole idea that it's a travesty for someone like Cena to break the record is overplayed. This. Hell Cena has a lot more opportunities to win titles than Flair did due to there being more PPVs and televised title matches so he should beat the record (assuming his career doesn't end any time soon). On the other hand I find Orton being a 14 time champion completely f***ing stupid so I suppose I'm a hypocrite.

Well, given the lineup of classic matches he's had and the way he helped keep WWE afloat during the rocky post-Benoit years, can you honestly claim Cena hasn't earned the right to break Flair's record?

Sign of the times. Not that it's a good thing.
1. There shouldn't be two world championships, especially if there is not a brand split. 2. WWE has allowed too many people to become 'world champions.' It means less now. 3. There have been too many short title reigns. This is connected to the above.

John Cena - 1191 Days (WWE) + 106 Days (WHC) = 1297 Days Randy Orton - 449 Days (WWE) + 138 Days (WHC) = 587 Days
Thing is, Cena's reigns do seem impressive to me, because despite the number, he's done a lot with it. Orton much less so.

It's just the WWEs way of manufacturing Cena's spot in the history books. It's pro wrestling. Everything is manufactured.

I have no problem with Cena having so many reigns. Orton on the other hand falls under "funny coincidence nobody really notices or cares about". there's a lot of guys who've held the world title a ludicrous amount of times like that, though. I mean, ADR's got like 6, but you're not going to convince me he's on the level with the likes of Bret Hart, Eddie Guerrero or Shawn Michaels.

I've got no problem with Cena breaking the record, a lot of his early reigns as much as I despised them for going on too long, had good matches to decent feuds.
Randy Orton? Heh. No. No way. I don't consider him a major player, no matter how hard WWE tries to make him seem like such.

Cena's the best wrestler of his generation by a considerable margin. It makes sense for him to have a lot of title reigns. If Hogan or Sammartino had been in this era they'd have had a comparable number of title reigns too.

As much as people bitch about him, Cena is the ultimate company man. Honestly, if anyone does deserve to beat Flair's "record" in the company currently it is Cena, divisive as he is. Yeah, a lot of his championships have been hot shotted, but it's pretty much been the standard since the 90's. Hell, a lot Flair's reigns were extremely short.

Cena I don't mind at all. Guy is arguably in the top five wrestlers in North America, and has been for years. And, he's easily within the top ten globally speaking.
Orton on the other hand...that's roll of the eye worthy.
