He's only had it for like two extra weeks, geez.

Because Kofi Kingston isn't due for his annual midcard title run for...
*checks schedule*
...another five weeks.
Somebody has to hold it until then.

Give the title to Alex Riley and then let him drop it to Zack Ryder in an epic face vs face feud. I'm ok with this as long as the match have a "both idiots get fired" stipulation. Booo!

Because they forgot. Sort of a joke, but part of me wonders...

Ambrose is awesome, IMO, but that title means less than nothing to him. Big E should have won it last night.

I'm still an Ambrose fan but am losing interest in him with what's going on lately. They're separating him from the Shield a bit...but not having him really do much of anything. That's a surefire ticket to Kofi Kingstonville.

Probably because there's no one in a position to benefit much from winning it from him, except Big E. (and he was going to go after Axel until his injury). The other midcard faces at the moment are perennial also-rans like Kofi and Ziggler who've had midcard singles title reigns before and don't have anything new to bring to the table.

It's unfortunate they turned Orton solidly heel. It would have actually been solid for Bryan to go ahead and win that feud (without Orton turning, just have the match) and then had ambrose start some shit with face Orton resulting in a feud. Just feels right to me. Orton was kinda dragging in the card pre orton/bryan feud and seems like it would have been better for Bryan to go ahead and have his run, while revitalizing Orton with some promo work in an Orton/Ambrose feud. He had just been fighting with the shield after all.

How about Justin Gabriel, Zack Ryder, or even one of the PTPs (Everyone thinks Titus has singles potential, and of course Darren is gay ), you know, the guys who helped Daniel Bryan fight off the Shield a few times? If any of them won the belt, it wouldn't feel like a step down the way it would for Ziggler or Miz and it wouldn't feel like same old shit status quo like it would for Kofi.

It's as simple as them not having built up to anyone beating him yet. It's not "Ambrose is more worthy than these two" or anything like that. The Rhodes Bros. were on fire with the crowd and it fit the angle they were doing, so they won the belts. Ambrose has held that belt for a while, when he loses it should be to someone who's going to do something with it, instead of random Kofi title win.

I've been an on and off proponent of Gabriel for quite a while now. It just seems like he's one storyline away from getting the crowd behind him, he's clearly talented and could clear that evan bourne/rey mysterio role in the ring no problem. He won me over during that nexus gauntlet match where I think he faced Cena? It went 5+ minutes and he was doing springboard moves etc where I could just feel how nervous I would be if I was him, but he was knocking technical moves out cleanly without issue. Can you imagine if you got your big break against Cena in a 5+ minute match on RAW and you're going for springboard moonsaults? He did several things like that no problem.
