I'm watching Goldberg and Booker T vs Christian and Jericho from RAW in 2003 and King was still heeling it up then, supporting the heels, calling the crowd idiots. When exactly did he stop doing that? Am I right in guessing it was a few months later during the J.R/King/Coach/Snow angle?

I'd say the last time he did it was the stuff surrounding the ECW revival, though he was mostly face long before that point.

In my mind, he hasn't been a heel since his feud with Taz and Raven, but he would support certain wrestlers, no matter if they were heel or face (Rock/HHH).

In the early/mid 2000s he used to have man-crush on heel Randy Orton. That's one of the last times I can remember him being a heel on commentary.

Playing WWE 2K14, it's so refreshing to hear Lawler as a heel.

After Cole reverted back to babyface announcer, Lawler kept making unnecessary and hurtful digs at him for a while.

The Al Snow/Coach feud him and JR had, was a big turning point in how he acted

As short ago as 2007, King still supported a lot of heels. Basically the end of JR and King's partnership was the end of Heel King for good.

There was the weird balance of the JR/Lawler/Coach announce team in 05 where King was still heel but not nearly as heel as Coach. King liked the heels, but Coach actively rooted them on.

I remember in 2006 he was fanboying over Chris Masters alot.
A mild, but recent, example is Fandango. However, that seems to have died down now.

Chris Masters was like the last heel he supported then one week he just started talkin over his intro and started being against him.
I wonder if lawler ever pushes to be a heel again?

I think Lawler should become a heel again. It might freshen him up and actually give him something be excited about.

I always thought it was as soon as his voice didn't get higher pitched.
I remember laughing like a hyena when I was a kid anytime he squeaked his voice.

I remember the time when Matt Hardy was wrestling with a cast as a heel in 2009 King was very sympathetic towards him.

ECW One Night Stand II was the last one I remember him being a heel.

He stopped being heel when JR came back to commentary in 206 and after second ECW show.
