It's near the end of 2013 and this question has been coming up in my mind in recent days...
- Unlike last year, there hasn't been one or two guys lighting up the C-shows as Hunico and Kidd were in 2012. I can't remember the last exceptional Superstars match.
- Guys like Ziggler and Cesaro aren't being booked as champions but they've had good years. Ziggler was a champ at one point and Cesaro gets regular air time with Real Americans.
Is there anyone who has been putting in amazing performances while few are watching? I struggle to think of someone. Also, who would be the breakout star of 2013? I'd say Bryan but he's already my pick for WWE star of the year.

Jack Swagger. The tag team with Cesaro has put a spark under him again.

I'd probably argue that Dolph Ziggler is still underrated. Just because they threw the world title on him doesn't mean they were treating him well; he had a crappy, forgettable reign as champion and then went right back to jobbing left and right. He hasn't touched the world title since July and hasn't done anything of significance since his storyline with AJ ended. The last two PPV's he's appeared exclusively on the pre-show's.

I would call Swagger underrated. People always point towards Cesaro as the star of the team but Swagger has done his part to make the team awesome.

Tensai, but he's never going to escape the Albert chants.

Yep, I'll also have to go with Swagger. Dude has been on fire in the ring as of late.

Pretty much everyone
Even the supposed face of the company is portrayed mainly as HHH's monkey boy

I'll vote Swagger too. But also Fandango and Summer Rae. Hopefully he returns to the IC title picture.
The other names I'll add to this list: The Usos.
They've been tearing it up on the tag team scene. We are seeing a duo that can split apart and clearly have big singles runs too. We're seeing the future of the main event scene when we watch these epic Shield/Usos matches.

Daniel Bryan. After all, he's so small and weak and indie and B+

Even though he wasn't wrestling much lately, Fella had a very nice couple of years of wrestling.

Tyson Kidd. The guy is off the injury list and they put him in a comedy masked tag team. Worst thing was he got injured just when Punk put him massively over on the mic and was getting a little bit of time to shine (great showings at mitb2011 etc), but they have now started to misuse him since returning.
Now don't get me wrong I love well done comedy teams as much as the next guy, but he should be working his way up in a solid midcard position being given 15 - 20 minute matches on Raw, SD and Main Event to put him over with the companies best in ring talent that tear it up weekly creating great/very watchable free tv episodes (Cesaro, Shield, Bryan, Cody Rhodes etc). While at the same time hunting for the IC/US Championship, then being a fighting champion of one of the two while promoting/basing his character around/pushing his technical skill and history with the business.
