The fact that Big Show has been able to get the crowd to chant it lately seems to lead it that way. I comes off more as a chant against the establishment than the catchphrase of Daniel Bryan at this point.

And I feel like they would love if it didn't belong to Bryan

It may be, however it will always be Bryans chant. It's like Austin's 'What?'; people chant it, even now, to wrestlers who've never even interacted with Stone Cold. Yet it will always be Steve Austin's chant as he got it over as his catchphrase first, just like Bryan.

I may be wrong, didn't a YES chant break out in TNA recently?

I know...I can't believe Daniel Bryan stole the "yes" chant from Big Show.

Without a doubt, WWE is using it to help Big Show get more over.
I wouldn't be shocked if they eventually stop DB from doing it, because it'll become a Big Show "thing" and he's a more well-established member of the roster.

I may be wrong, didn't a YES chant break out in TNA recently? Happens all the time. It's just one of those things, where it's applicable to many different situations. But, I think since Bryan got it over, he should be the only one to actively lead the fans in YES chants. If the fans chant it themselves in other situations, so be it.

We'll know it's come full circle when a YES! chant is used to heckle some new workrate darling, and smarks decry the chant as a horrible thing perpetuated by dumb hicks trying to get themselves over.

A lot of the time it's pretty much just replaced standard cheering. Like if someone says "Maybe I don't wanna wait til Sunday and we have the match right now!" Everyone will break into yessing instead of just going Yeaaaaah!
I'm waiting for the Smackdown canned version of it before it becomes the chanting face of the company.

Bryan should sue Big Show for gimmick infringement.

Not really. People were saying this about AJ Lee last year when she only did it away from Daniel Bryan maybe once, and now that the association is over, it didn't stick. Besides, they still be chanting it in Bryan's entrance and matches anyway.

I wouldn't be shocked if they eventually stop DB from doing it, because it'll become a Big Show "thing" and he's a more well-established member of the roster. Just like AJ was going to take control of it, just like Sheamus was going to steal it, just like Del Rio was going to steal it forever to get himself over as a face. The fact is that a multitude of wrestling characters have used the YES chant and yet it's still D-bryan chant. I don't see that changing.

When Daniel Bryan's music plays, the crowd chants "Yes!" before D-Bry leads them on...
Whilst it may have "surpassed" Bryan, he's firmly tethered to it.

The 'What?' chant was fun for a while to.
Bet anyone a packet of peanuts this time next year they'll be daily threads bemoaning the 'Yes!' chant.
