Bryan should sue Big Show for gimmick infringement. Big Show was stealing from lots of people in that last segment, he said "fella" and copied Zeb's "loud clear voice" shtick. It's almost like he's back in that time where he did lots of impersonations (eg. Hogan), hell he impersonated Austin recently.

The "What" chants rarley makes much sense, outside of being something people felt like chanting at the moment. Other than Slick at the Bryan-AJ wedding, when is the last time anyone did the same "repeat what I just said, possible using other words"-thing that Austin did?
Yes and No chants on the other hand is much more flexible. People chant Yes when they agree what's going on, and No when they disagree. If Orton talks about how he'll hold on to the title for the next year no matter how much people like the challenger, a What chant doesn't mean much, but No shows that the crowd are invested in what's going on and want him to lose it.

They chant it much louder for Bryan than for anybody else.

The only person outside of Bryan that 'YES!' has stuck to is Del Rio, and that's only when he mocks the crowd by going 'SI!'. Yes, the crowd chants along, but that's because it's fun to say.

It'll always be tied to Bryan, remember this isn't the first time that other people have taken up the chant in a storyline. We had both AJ and Sheamus both use it to taunt Bryan with and we even had Del Rio try to get his own "Si" version over, which surprisingly nobody seems to give a shit about. People had the same fears with Big Show now that they did with Sheamus and AJ, that they were trying to steal it, that the WWE was trying to give it to someone else to get over with. It didn't stick, if that was their intention. I do enjoy hearing the chant in various indies though, I mean, where didn't Bryan end up wrestling at some point so it's always felt like a tribute to him in some sense, it's quite cool that Bryan has been responsible for a chant not just getting over in the WWE but getting over in the wrestling business in general.

I don't think it's at that point yet.
It probably will be one day.

Big Show has co-opted it. Probably at Vinnie Mac's request.

The Yes chant comes from Daniel Bryan?
I just thought it was a generic wrestling chant that the fans came up with like "Woo" when someone gets slapped on the chest.
When did Bryan come up with it? I can't remember him using it ever in WWE, perhaps he used to use it on Smackdown which explains why I've never seen it. But he hasn't done it on any Raw's or PPV's I've watched. In fact if I associate that chant with anyone it would have to be The Big Show and Stephanie Mcmahon, they did really great things with it.

The difference is that those AJ and Sheamus were doing it in storylines or segments that also involved Bryan. I think Del Rio might've shared a few segments with Bryan at the time and the Si! Chants were derived from the post 18 Seconds backlash. Big Show is doing the YES! Chants after Bryan has already been phased out of the angle, which only lends credence to the idea of him stealing it.

Yeah I can't see why anyone would be annoyed with "yes" or "no" chants as they are with "what" chants, it's just a new way to "yay" or "boo".

I'm not really a fan of Big Show doing it. Feels alot like pandering to the fans and Daniel Bryan.

No doubt. It's now a part of the long list of universal wrestling chants.

He still has to lead them in doing the chant though and let's be honest, its an infectious chant. At least every time Bryan has been on it's been mostly natural for people to chant it, with them usually kicking in the second his music hits. The chant will always pop up for other talent or be used by them, remember that match on RAW, where Punk was champ and was facing Henry? They would trade blows and people would shout "YES" when Punk hit and "NO" when Henry did. It was pretty awesome. Until Big Show get's a shirt with the chant on it, we don't really have anything to worry about.

Yes, but I don't agree with the implication that, as such, it's being taken away from Bryan to drain his overness.

And I've never given anyone "kudos" before. It just seemed apropos. I don't use that word either. What is going on here?

Poor Diego Sanchez. Fair's fair. The UFC stole most of WWE's market share, so WWE gets to steal a UFC fighter's self-motivational chant.
