Miz could have fulfilled the role of the obnoxious corporate champion. The hand picked face of the company who knows he doesn't really deserve the title, but goes along with HHH and Steph because he enjoys the perks of being their ally. All of it would have been more interesting than Randy Boreton. Miz is perfect. All his bombastic, arrogant spiels, whereas he's little more than a puppet to the system. Orton's just kind of...there. Miz would've made people really hate him because someone who gets something they don't deserve and brags about it is nearly the most annoying kind of person in the world. And Miz, as his early run shows, is VERY good at being "annoying." He's not well suited to being a face, and very good at being a heel.

Except for the fact HHH wanted Show to be the authorities bodyguard and wanted him to knock out guys like Dusty Rhodes. I don't see how Miz fills in that spot well at all. Then there is also the fact that why Show gained support was because we all knew he could knock out Hunter in one punch but couldn't because he will lose his job/house etc which again Miz can't play at all. Then the crowd has to believe you are a legit threat to HHH/Orton which Big show just because of his massive size and it takes the whole shield + Orton to put him down. Nothing in Miz's booking in the last 18 months will make people think he has a legit chance of beating them. No, I know what you mean, which is why I wouldn't have picked him for the spot. They could have played it like, "Miz, you're the go-to guy for media appearances. People associate you with the company and do 80% of our major media appearances, you've got to tow the line or we'll give your spot to someone else..." and kind of played that angle. Like, "You've always been a company guy, don't go against the Authority now." type thing. I find this whole Big Show angle kind of silly to be honest and it doesn't really work for a lot of reasons, but with a few minor tweaks early on they could have put Miz in the same place and ended with the same unappealing (to me) storyline. I don't see why it needs to be a one or the other kind of thing anyways. As much as I dig the Authority angle it's still glaring that the WWE is falling into the habit again of the main event being the only place where characters really exist. You have a perfect storyline here that could do wonders for the entire roster to take a more proactive role in what's happening, and you have that to an extent, you have Miz getting shut down by Orton, Usos/Goldust/Rhodes taking on the Shield at every opportunity, but they aren't really attempting to add any dimensions to anyone. Why aren't the faces more actively pursuing solutions to the corrupt regime? Why aren't more heels trying to take advantage of an Authority who skews in their favor? There just isn't nearly enough character dynamics at play when this angle is perfectly suited for everyone to have a response to it. Instead of anyone taking exception to the regime's general behavior, they're all just hoping Big Show gets his job back, then when Big Show gets his job back it's "problem solved" for the rest of the roster. I don't hate the Big Show story, there's definite holes in it, and I'm not necessarily saying Miz should have been in a major storyline here over Big Show, in fact I think the only thing they've done wrong with Miz so far is not have him look physically credible what so ever, from a character standpoint he's really been the only one other than Daniel Bryan taking the Authority to task, really. This angle really should be an all encompassing, line in the sand angle that separates the heroes from the villains and really establishes roles for the midcarders. 'Cause right now they have hot acts, but it really boils down to the Usos are awesome in the ring, Cesaro swings people, Santino has a sock, even Cody Rhodes/Goldust seem to have fallen into that category of fan favorites that don't have a voice. There's a lot of really talented guys that are catching on but other than the usual suspects we aren't learning anything about any of them.

This time the person involved is Cena though,so it's not really a pity title,at least for the moment. It actually would be interesting to see what they'd do with both of the world champions being the ''chosen men'' of the authority. I just really think that they need to either push Miz back to the top, or just pull the plug for good, end his suffering and let him be free in the midcard, using what little credibility and name value he has left to boost the midcard/tag division. I agree, but a WHC feud including Cena against Miz&Authority, while not THE top feud, might as well be a top feud on its own. Will probably never even come close to happening though.
