Choose 1 song that features an instrument other than the standard guitar, bass guitar, and drum trio.

There will be a bonus for winning this Round, one that the Host and I need to discuss before I post it to ensure it is explained correctly. That bonus will be mentioned before I post the actual song list for the Round. Contestants can send me songs during this judging period or choose to wait until the current Round plays out. I request that, due to how late it is (at least for me on the east coast) that contestants wait until tomorrow afternoon to send me the songs in the interest of fairness.

Ok, you weren't divide into Team Good, Team Bad, and Team Ugly (or Team Cat) but, looking at some of the songs.... No, No, sorry, just joking!

Anyway, for this Phase, the contestants were divided into three teams (Team Hayden, Team Lodi, and Team Widow) and had to pull songs from musical decades of years past. From the groovy 60s to the decadent 70s, the big hair 80s to the coffee house haunting 90s, all the way to the current musical scene. As the Phase progressed, teams won immunity with their musical ingenuity and now the Sing-Off boils down to the members of Team Widow's Peak:

Two members of Team Widow's Peak will face off in the next Sing-Off. In order to make it especially difficult for Team Widow's Peak, the Immune teams sent songs of their own. I will now reveal the rankings, which were cumulative for all three Rounds of this Phase. I will do so in this fashion: 1st, the overall winner; 2nd, the rankings for contestants not a part of Team Widow; finally, Team Widow individually until it is revealed which two contestants are in the Sing-Off.

Six songs are in for the Bells and Whistles Round. Remember, the song submitted is acceptable as long as it features an instrument that is not part of the traditional guitar, bass guitar, and drum assortment. It can certainly include those instruments as well or it can feature just one different instrument (say, someone playing the piano and singing by themselves, that would be fine) or it can feature any number of instruments different than those three. The judges have reached a verdict for Sing-Off # 3. The Sing-Off saw the first FAN Idol and frequent Idol judge, Widow's Peak, face off against talented newcomer suavegentleman. The verdict was not unanimous and the Save was not used.

suavegentleman chose indie rock duo Matt & Kim's piano driven "Daylight", the first single off of their second studio album, Grand, while Widow's Peak countered with the infectious groove of genre defying neo-soul artist Pharrell William's "Happy", as featured on the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack.

The judges have reached a vote of 3 to 1. Regardless of who leaves us now, we have seen a fantastic Sing-Off and both contestants should feel proud of selecting such wonderful music . Thank you both for the music you have brought to Season IX of Fan Idol.
