Ryback. They basically found Batista 2.0 the next big main eventer who despite lost like every PPV match he was still the #2 babyface of the company and had more cheers then Cena at the RR 2013. Then they gave him the most unnecessary heel turn ever so Cena can feud with someone and yeah destroyed all of his credibility.
At least proved that he can be an awesome heel.

I'm still amazed that WWE can catch lightning in a bottle, and somehow fail to do anything from there on out. I can't even tell you how many times they've done so in the last decade or so, and it seems to continue to get worse. I know you're going to wanna hit me with something, but I think one of the worst examples of pissing away a chance to make a big star is your favorite whipping boy: the Miz.

Ziggler.
What in the hell happened? It's like they had this hot act and did absolutely nothing with him after the rematch with Del Rio. He hasn't done anything since then. He had that mini-feud with AJ where he and Kaitlyn faced AJ and Big E at SummerSlam but that is it. You could make a case for Ryback, but at least he still featured somewhat on shows and PPV's. Zigger is almost at Zack Ryder status in people having a hard time remembering he exists in a meaningful way.
What a shame. What did he do...pee in HHH's coffee or something? He must have did something for such shoddy treatment to happen to him.

Ryback takes this award for the second year in a row.
He was on fire last year until they panicked and injected him into a feud with Punk. Many of us knew it would end badly for the lug. This year, he was never able to gain any traction, everything that had made him special in the first place was stripped away, he was put in feuds that made him look foolish. The WWE definitely dropped the ball with the guy. At this point in his career, I don't think he could beat the Presidential Jobbers.

He had so much momentum early in the year that just fell off the cliff. Maybe they're trying to MVP him or something, but I don't know.

Ryback Rules...this poll.
In real life?
Ryback's...SCREWED.
Seriously. I don't want to repeat what was already said, but COME ON they took a hot, on fire babyface that they desperately needed after foolishly turning Punk heel last summer. They built him up, then became the Shield's bitch, lost clean as a whistle to Mizark at Wrestlemania, then turned heel for NO REASON. It's not like the fans forced them to turn him heel. He was getting the biggest undivided pops in the company last fall through the day after Mania. Oh no, they needed another guy for Cena to beat, because fans won't buy Cena as a top guy if they didn't.

I honestly don't think anyone would survive having their first WWE title defense be against a commentator and then being told to basically stand in the corner while Cena bickers with The Rock during the WM build-up.

A strong case for Ryback, Ziggler, Sandow, The Miz and Daniel Bryan can be made.

You guys are nuts about Ryback. The biggest mistake they made with him was pairing him with Heyman. He was awesome as a bully, and he was getting plenty of face time with that gimmick. He coulda rode that character for a long time and been damn entertaining doing it.
Sandow is the one for me. It's like a character striptease: everything interesting about him is slowly being removed one by one.

The top answer is the correct one; Ryback was getting pretty huge reactions as a face, and they shot it all to hell.

Other... John Cena. Yes his character isn't ruined and he's still a top draw. However half that list exists because they can't book Cena. And this year is the giant turd on top of the crap sundae that's been his long term booking. He had his victory over Rock and they built towards him and Bryan well, but everything else before and especially after is going to go down as the worst crap of this year long term. This should be the set up to the next stage of his career. He should be a goddamn legend at this point and instead he's still John Cena out to prove ...something. He stayed around with that gross swelled arm long enough to put on an epic match with Bryan, someone he has a great rapport with and what should have been a passing of the torch was just an excuse to shove Trips into the spotlight and attempt 341 to make Orton relevant.
Then he's rushed back to try to draw ratings for Smackdown and put into a feud for the B belt. Hell I think in Hogan's day the IC title meant more than the big gold belt does now. Love him or hate him you can't deny he's the face of the company and their biggest attraction. I don't remember Austin or Hogan rushing back from an injury to grab the IC title. Nobody else on that list is having the long term repercussions Cena will have. He's already hurting himself doing houseshows. To what end. That crowd would be happy if he cut a promo, put over the city and/or maybe slapped Vicki or run off a heel. That's the stuff Hogan, Rock, Austin, HHH, Taker did when they need a lighter load, or they got time off.
Here's Cena's trajectory for this year. Build up to mania and introduction of the Shield who target him a lot Cena makes the shield look legit while still building up his match at mania, overcomes the Rock real passing of the torch moment. Ryback turn and feud which while terrible for Ryback at least he didn't tear an achilles. From Ryback he goes to Mark Henry who turns heel to set up the match and who turns face again right after their feud because shield and creative and no strong heels blah blah. Whatever he hurts himself again but gets to pick his opponent. He's done everything he can in dis business and picks the young, hungry and over as hell Daniel Bryan. Although not a passing of the torch moment exactly it should have been the lighting of the torch. This should have been the icing on the Cena legacy of him bringing a guy on the verge into the top tier. Instead it's not, but whatever that doesn't really hurt Cena you may say. However that title that he put over so much in his feud with the Rock and that he MADE Bryan earn, he just let Orton walk away with it and returned to fight Del Rio and Sandow for the B title. A return which meant nothing really. Trips would tear a quad wiping his ass and we'd get videopackages for three months on how hard he's working to return and how he'd be back in the scene and then we'd get a long drawn out thirty minute Best of Motorhead album intoduction and green pyro display. And when he did start making appearances again he wouldn't be wrestling every night against the midcard right away. That's a Chris Jericho, Edge, or RVD role as smarky smarmy heelish Trips would say, and everyone would nod. Cena is supposed to be in the Hogan, Austin, Rock category but you'd never know that by the booking.
And because they've failed to pull the trigger again on another potential face to carry some of the load, there is no end in sight. Rybacks character maybe crap these days but at least he's not hurting himself. Daniel Bryan may have lost momentum but he can recover that he's that good. Cena's booking is turning him into 2006 Kurt Angle when this should have been the year to turn him into 2001-2003 Rock. Some people's character's and gimmicks got ruined, but Cena's body is getting ruined and his legacy isn't getting the polish it deserves.
