t.co/Sz9pJVyvHVThis nonsense is nonsensical. The blocking rule needs properly explained, or fleshed out, or...anything. Yeah that was a terrible call. Benefited the Reds but they really need to take a look at this rule during the AS break. Unfortunately the only thing worse than that was the incessant whining by the Pirates announcers going on and on like that was what gave the Reds 7 in runs in the inning. To be fair it would have only been 6, but they were still acting like it cost them the game 3 innings later. Note to self...as bad as you think Thom Brennaman is do NOT listen to the Pirates play by play anymore.

I'm in Pittsburgh and I can understand them talking about it since, rightfully so, everyone is going to be talking about it. Even though it didn't matter in this game, it's gotta he addressed and this play has been the worst example so far. And this is about the third or fourth time the Pirates have given up a run for blocking the plate so it's kind of an annoyance now. Plus, I can also understand because they gotta talk about something during a blowout game to fill time, and it's the most notable thing in the game. Can't blame them for being mad because people SHOULD be mad over this rule situation. Sooner or later a call that bad will swing a game one way or the other.

Just my opinion, I try to listen to the other teams feeds cause I hate my own play by play guy, and I understand there's gonna be some homerism goin on. This is the 2nd game I'm listening to them in a row and the only group I've listened to worse then these 2 are my own teams (other than Brantley when he's in there he's pretty good) and whomever does the Nats games.

To be fair, I will say the guy doing play by play for tonight's game is pretty awful, by far the worse of the two announcers the Pirates have. You do have to wonder how that ruling came about tonight. Did they never think about how it works in a force play situation?

They have a different PbP guy...K have to give them another chance maybe he's doing tomorrow's game. Like I said I get it, it's your teams channel your gonna homer to that team...that's cool. Every teams announcers are gonna do that to a point. Don't make excuses for your team that mean nothing like some live feed kid...that's just bad.
The ruling...I got no idea why they called it like that. I thought they were ruling what looked like a juggle on Martin's part when he was stepping back as soon as he caught it...looked like he had to snap the glove again cause the ball was on it's way out. If you get the right angle you'll see it. When they said it was for blocking the plate I just went whhhhhhaaaaatttt???
edit : yeah on the video that got posted, the angle shown at 1:00 if you follow that through you'll see what I thought they were reviewing it for.

Clayton Kershaw delivers the Dodgers second no hitter of the season.
Hanley Ramirez must feel really shitty for screwing up the perfect game.

Meanwhile, Clayton Kershaw no-hits the Rockies, striking out 15, with the only baserunner coming from a Hanley Ramirez error.

Someone should change the topic to celebrate Kershaw. That douche Keith Law's been in the topic long enough.

In the 2006 MLB Draft, 5 pitchers were taken ahead of Clayton Kershaw. Methinks those teams are regretting that decision. Especially Seattle (could have had King Felix and Kershaw), and Detroit (Kershaw, Verlander, and Scherzer). And it's made even worse that the 2 pitchers selected after Kershaw were Tim Lincecum and Max Scherzer. So the 6th, 7th, and 8th pitchers taken have won 5 Cy Youngs, and out of the first 5 taken only Brandon Morrow doesn't have a losing record in his career.
At least Tampa can say "Hey, we took Evan Longoria, so our pick was awesome and has delivered."

To be fair, the pitcher the Tigers drafted in '06 was one of the bigger pieces in the Miguel Cabrera trade, so I'm sure the Tigers don't feel too badly.

An absolute monstrous series for the Nats this weekend. A 4 game series against Atlanta who seems to be free falling but still only 1.5 back from the Nats.
The way the Nats have the rotation set up, it's looking like this: Zimmerman vs. Floyd; Strasburg vs. Teheran; Fister vs. Minor; Roark vs. Santana. A sweep would be huge, a split would still put the Braves 1.5 out.

To be fair, Kershaw had a full scholarship to go to Texas where he was going to go unless he was drafted by the Dodgers/Braves/Texas/Red Socks so nothing those teams really could have done.

Plus high school pitchers in general are risky draft picks no matter what.

Except when you draft a guy like Bryan Bullington or Matt Bush number 1, when they clearly aren't close to being the best player in the draft. Or Drew Storen at 10 because it's "safe" and a compensation pick you can't get back the next year.

I really hate Tampa Bay's stadium/field. Reminds me of the days of watching games from the Kingdome. Lighting is bad, seems so dreary there. (Montreal was pretty awful as well, and they had some good teams.) I count my blessings the White Sox didn't move to Tampa, could have been them hosting in that dump. I probably would have become a full-fledged Braves fan.

Reds optioned LHP Tony Cingrani to Triple-A Louisville.
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Phillies are one of the teams that have reached out to Grady Sizemore.
Rangers transferred 1B Prince Fielder from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
