rumor is false. He just tweeted he never knew where the rumor of him not wanting a push came from.

Why would that be true? That doesn't make any kind of sense.

The only people I've ever heard rumors about them not wanting a world title were Kane and Eddie.
Don't see how it will make sense for Shelton to feel this way.

Why would that be true? That doesn't make any kind of sense. As I recall, JR used to blog about Benjamin a lot, and he'd say things like that. He meant that Benjamin just wasn't motivated enough, and he'd say things like, "Maybe one day he'll want to be champion enough!" I think he was legit frustrated about Benjamin, personally. Reading between the lines, I think he went to bat for him, and then when Benjamin didn't get over, JR was personally embarrassed. Anyway, wouldn't surprise me if the rumor started because of a game of telephone originating with a JR blog.

Remember when it briefly seemed like Shelton may get a match/program with World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger, but instead Shelton was released days later?

Remember when it briefly seemed like Shelton may get a match/program with World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger, but instead Shelton was released days later? Holy shit did that piss me off. I've never been a massive Shelton fan. He was a fine athlete, but just wasn't AS good on the mic. It really sucked too, because he was fun to watch. I thought having his mama as his manager was awesome. It's a shame that it was so short lived, because all he needed was a mouthpiece to be the character for him. The gold standard thing...well, it was an improvement. He got slightly better on the mic, but he was still sounded more natural than Swagger did, so when Swagger won the belt, and he made that little "Gold Standard" comment, but Shelton did nothing to counteract it. If Shelton bitch slapped Swagger's goofy face, then proceeded to lay into him, it would have gotten the crowd on his side. Instead, like usual...any wrestler who isn't a blip on the radar has to be treated like a pussy. Makes no sense.

He shouldn't have been pushed as a main eventer anyway, so it pretty much all worked out.

I wish it were true. Him bursting into creative's office, demanding not to be give the belt and to save embarrassment everyone pretending it was ever on the cards.
"You what? You...oh...er...oh oh yes, um.....oh no...er..drat. Darn it guys, plan B it is"

I think the idea is being taken out of context. He never turned down an actual push. The idea is that he wasn't motivated, and used to play a a lot of video games backstage instead of "learning" or "honing" his craft. That's why he made the tweet about Playstation.

AIN'T NO STOPPING HIM NOW!
Unless he asks you to do so. Then, yeah, it's pretty easy to stop him.

I'm pretty sure Shawn's also said he didn't want another world title run in his last few years on the roster. Supposedly, Scott Hall never wanted to be a World Champion either. Which, he was certainly over enough to accomplish back in the mid-90s New Generation era. *shrug*
