Finishing Moves You Hate The Most

Partly inspired by the other thread.

I'm not talking about joke finishing moves--but ones that are supposed to be legitimate that you dislike because of how they look either stupid or ineffective.

The one I donate to the thread is a move I've seen done by what seems like a thousand people--and its never gotten over. It just looks dumb.

I don't even know what it's called, but the first guy I recall seeing a variation of it was Reno in WCW.

A Sports Entertainer gets another Sports Entertainer in position for a reverse DDT and instead of reverse DDT-ing him he does a spin that doesn't seem to serve any other purpose than to look cool because spins are cool. I think Bray Wyatt may use a variation of it now...ugh.

Not every finishing move needs to reinvent the wheel and look cool.

The Big Ending, it's such a lame move for someone as awesomely powerful as Big E. He should be doing the running powerslam or Oklahoma Stampede or something similar IMO.

Honestly the Pedigree. It takes forever for him to hook the arms before finally dropping the guy. I never loved the Mandible claw either.

I hate the knockout punch w/Big Show.

Are you talking about a twisting-reverse STO (what Wyatt uses), or a rolling cutter (what Cody Rhodes uses)? They're two different moves, you described the rolling cutter but referenced the STO. I actually like both, if the cutter is sold like it should be (LIKE A CUTTER), it looks legit. Too many people don't time the spin right, and it looks like shit.

I never liked Reno's "Roll The Dice" version, but the CrossRhodes is sick.

My least favorite finisher right now...definitely Sandow's full-nelson slam "he calls it the You're Welcome!"

I'm actually looked at them both to clear up my memory. I dislike them both, because my soul is a grizzled old man who doesn't like flashy, spinny moves that seem overly extravagant.

I'd consider them to be in the same family of moves.

Wyatt, in particular, will hold them in place far too long...where they should just fall down to counter it.

I would probably be less critical of the rolling cutter if it didn't look like crap most of the time I see it. To be fair, when done properly it's not that bad...it just seems to be an overly complicated way to get from point A to point B.

It you want to give somebody a cutter--then just do that. You don't need to be spinny.

I'm taking this too seriously. :-p

That facebuster move the Bella Twins use. Brie especially needs to get rid of it, as she's improved too much in the ring to still be using such a generic diva finisher.

When I was younger, I hated Bradshaw's clothsline from hell. I always asked why doesn't he just do that finisher when ever he just normally clothsline people.

The knockout punch from Show. I love Show and I understand that a punch from a guy like that should destroy someone's face, but it's so, so, so lame and boring.

The killswitch. Such a long, disillusioning setup.

Whenever Taker used a submission move. I've hated the MMA elements of Taker's character from day one.

I blame the people taking it as much as I do the performer... but Punks' GTS.


I'm no japanophile by any measure of the imagination, but KENTA's looks way better.

The problem with Punks' GTS is the drop from the firemans' carry, everyone lands on their feet while eating the knee, making the entire drop from firemans' carry position pointless. Why not just knee them in the face?

It would work so much better if he turns it into a diamond cutter/rko when he launches the guy off.

I'll go with the KO Punch because it really makes no sense on why doesn't he try to land the punches right away. Like it's not exactly like he's charging up for a falco punch or anything. Or there are times in the match the opponent is resting on the turn buckle and dazed and Big Show lifts the guys head up with one hand and delivers the slowest longest chop to the chest instead? Why doesn't he f***ing Knock him out already. Opponent is on the ground and instead of picking him up, f***ing punch him in the face. He just kicked out barely and still on the ground. f***ing punch him in the face already.

Honestly... I kinda hate the RKO/cutter/ace crusher. What, the front of the dude's shoulder is coated in sleeping potion, or something? I'm all for safety, but that move is just confusing to me.

The big ending and the shell shock.

Both moves are just so anticlimactic compared to everything else their respective users do; the shell shock especially. It just looks like a move that would be used to set up something better, but then he wins with it, and you think, "wait, that was really it?"

If the bump is taken correctly, the receiver is supposed to hit the ground face first.
