Cody says he paid to have the Classic IC Belt recreated

In a new interview with Chad Dukes, Cody Rhodes noted that he paid to have the white Intercontinental Title, currently held by Big E Langston, brought back.

"You have no idea how difficult that was to get the IC Title, the white IC Title, which Big E Langston is now our new Intercontinental Champion and that was such a cool thing for him, to see that and see it still around," said Rhodes. "It makes me feel happy because that was such a pain to get done. Not many people know this; I paid for the title to be recreated. I was refunded, heavily refunded, but I paid to show it to the man and say, "Listen, this will get a reaction, that you might not think it will and here's why," you know? And I'm very happy to see it still in existence."

Wonder how much that set him back? And the belt they're using now obviously isn't the same one Cody re-debuted a few years ago, so I wonder since he paid for the belt, whether he got to keep the original.

That's amazing on so many levels, Cody is a great guy and knows how to do business. I seriously never would have guessed that he did. Belts seem terribly expensive to make as well after hearing how much so many of them have been, so even more credit to him

Still, the Divas belt looks too childish and "girly", and not in a "warrior goddess" kind of way.

Personally, calling it anything other than the WWE Women's Championship is, or should be, an insult to the women who wear it. They're being told by the company that they're not good enough to be called the women's champion.

The previous belt, to be fair, was not really any better. It didn't have the same gravitas given to the designs of any of the other belts of the period.

I'd like to see a somewhat more feminized version of the Winged Eagle belt for the Women's title - perhaps a swan with a globe split between the Americas and Africa/Eurasia/Australia by the neck of the swan.

The IC title was my least-favourite design. Even the Spinner belt was better than that, so I'm glad Cody brought back the classic design.

By "heavily repaid" I imagine Cody means he got a bonus out of it.

It's an absolutely superior belt to the sad egg that was the previous IC belt.

Hell, I wish they just brought back all the real belts. They were the bridge connecting two legendary eras to today's growing new generation, and were symbolic trophies held by icons. I don't think they ever needed to be changed. Hockey doesn't outright butcher the Stanley Cup. Its been remade a ton of times but always in the same timeless shape. WWE should be no different. Goldust & Cody should be wearing the belts that the Hart Foundation, The Bulldogs, Demolition, LOD, E&C , and the Dudleys wore. I like to see tradition continue. It feels like all the guys are connected that way. Don't reinvent the wheel. Especially with blinged out bullshit that's out of vogue anyway, or a Divas belt that looks like it should come with a free Dora the Explorer backpack. It's unnecessary.
