I think WWE doesn't want any more small(ish) main eventers right now. They like Punk more than Bryan because he's the best promo guy they've got, and they think the fans that like DB will be fine with Punk getting the spotlight instead. And if Punk retires soon (if that's really a thing, he might just be being a smart businessman), they can just plug Bryan into his spot.
Not sure about the specifics of how the stuff with the Shield/Wyatts/Authoritah is going to go, but that's the feeling I'm getting from everything going on. Survivor Series was kind of the Night of the Hoss. At least they've got good ones in Langston and Reigns. But I do see a shift in that they want to get bigger guys in bigger roles.

Sounds like the makings of a wrestletaint.gov story.

DB can't be any smaller than Bret Hart or HBK, but they are for the most part the smallest main eventers not named Rey Mysterio for the most part. Isn't Big E kind of short though? I love the guy, but I'm increasingly getting a more Black Taz vibe than Ryblack or Soulberg from him. Dude needs more suplexes.

About DB's size, yes he is smaller than Hart and Michaels, by quite a bit. WWE has gotten a lot smaller over the years but right now they seem to be in the mood of pushig bigger guys.

You want my guess, post-Wrestlemania? The tag titles are the new WHC. Punk/Bryan are going to be a team in the long term and win the belts, and the division will be treated as nominally-but-not-really equal to the WWE Championship and headline the B-circuit house shows, as well as periodic RAWs and even the (very) occasional PPV.
The intention is that this will be the division for the diehard fans who want to watch technically excellent wrestling matches, while the singles main event scene will be for the Hogan/Rock-esque larger-than-life personalities that'll be marketed towards reeling in the casual audience, and the hope is that providing separate ceilings for both groups will keep the diehard fans from resenting Cena (and/or whoever ends up succeeding Cena in his current spot) for "holding down" the workrate guys.

I can't say for certain, because I have absolutely no idea what they're doing with the Wyatts and Bryan. I'm hoping they resolve that by having Punk try to rescue him on Smackdown by doing a segment similar to when Undertaker and Paul Bearer tried to embalm Stone Cold alive.

Even if all of this came true and I gotta be honest, I would be mostly OK with it, people will always see the tag division as holding people down and being below the companys glass ceiling as long as the belts are f***ing bronze. The first step they would need to take in making this work would be changing those belts and making them gold.

Plus tag team breaking up are ready-made feuds...
I like the idea.

As long as they keep signing talented hosses like Reigns, Langston and the Wyatts, bring it on.

DB isn't that small. He might be short, but he has a thick, bulky frame. And if they just stopped shoving the beard thing in our faces and he could just trim it, he'd have a good "look" as well.
