I'd rather Goldust continue to elevate the tag-team division than getting lost in the lower singles racket again forever.

Cody has a great look, knows how to work a match with proper psychology, and is good to great on the mic depending on the subject. Yeah, I'm not seeing any positives about him either. What's so great about Cody's look? Sure he looks better than likely you or I do but we're not going by the 'who'd stand out without a shirt on at Walmart' standard. I'd doubt he's much over 6ft, if he is at all. He probably weighs about 200lbs and he has short black hair. He's got a decent body but he's hardly ripped in comparison to other guys on the roster. I'm not getting how that's a "great look" it isn't terrible but it's hardly 'stand out' is it? Mr. McMahon is that you?

I opened this thread imagining pics of Goldust and Cody puking all over themselves at the bar.

I never understood why he so rapidly turned into a comic character. He could easily be one of the best promo guys in the company able to do slightly more than "I can beat you" and "shutchermouf". But instead he's just lost in the pack tagging with his brother who while quite good at twerking, has in all honesty little going for him other than who he's related to. Goldust could still be a US/IC title level contributor to the show. Okay at his age he would mainly be used to enhance mid-ranked guys but enhance them he would. Goldust's personal problems are what caused him to be held back. WWE couldn't trust him. Kind of like that slimy referee Joey Marella.

No its Gorilla Monsoon, he came back from the dead Nah, Monsoon was less belligerent. Cody has an attainable physique that still looks impressive and isn't stuck in generic tights with no entrance gear or identity, what about that isn't standout?

Goldust is doing fine with his brother. Their tag team has given the division new life and made each of them relevant.

I think that Cody and Goldust make for a great team, but I kind of feel that Cody has lost a lot of the steam that was building for him. Remember how over he was in the match against Orton when he was fighting for his career? How the crowd popped when Goldust hit the CrossRhodes on Orton while fighting for Cody's job? I think that they're great at the moment but they'll inevitably breakup and I'm not sure that Cody will ever have the kind of momentum that he had over the summer again.

I agree with the OP in respect to Cody. I've never understood his appeal. The dude is white bread in every possible respect. He's a Matt Hardy type of guy on promo and while he is alright in-ring, he's nothing special. He's a slightly better Dibiase Jr. The only difference between Ted and Cody is that Cody was given a great gimmick at one point, and he did do a good job with it (Dashing), but even there Matt Hardy had a great gimmick once too.
Golddust, I'm more iffy about mainly due to his age, but in his defense its not a stretch for a 45 year old to have great matches and he certainly has the promo/character abilities.

I can agree with wanting more for Golddust; but Cody has all the tools to be doing more too. Right now they're just a fun lil tag team, but both guys are capable of more.

I pretty much agree with this. The momentum Cody had in September, instead of being used towards his first major title feud, was converted into a booster shot for the tag division. This also blasted Goldust into relevancy for the first time in 10 plus years. It wasn't a waste of time, but in terms of Cody's career it might have held him back. But I say this, let the tag run go on for another month. Then come early January, have them drop the belts by the authority screwing them over. Then have someone take out Goldust in some dramatic fashion. I think an angry, vengeful Cody Rhodes will help bring back that momentum. He'll be a threat going into the Rumble. From there the possibilities open up. Does he go on to face Orton for the title (or a title) at Mania while Bryan deals with HHH/HBK and Punk I guess finishes up with the returned Heyman? Does the authority repackage Goldust like they did Kane and bring about a blood versus blood feud?

He's better on his own. He's helped Cody get over as face but sooner or later Cody is going to have to go it alone as a face and I say they should split in the near future. Goldust is having a great run at the moment and is getting booked fairly but I still think he deserves another IC title reign before he hangs up the boots. His current work proves he is good enough to carry the entire IC division.
