I actually think this moment worked better because of all their bad blood and history, because it showed what a bunch of shameless sellouts all of them are. That would only work IF Orton was good for business but ratings dip when he's champ so it makes no sense anyway you cut it. It makes complete sense to me. The Authority believes it is rigiht -- it is playing the role of the righteous heel. As long as a heel believes he is right, it doesn't matter if it disagrees with the facts or with the viewpoint of the audience. Not to compare the angles and say this one is as good, but Austin being champ was the right thing for business, but heel Vince McMahon didn't think so. He wanted Austin to tone down his outrageous behavior, which was the thing that made him popular.

He wanted Austin to tone down his outrageous behavior, which was the thing that made him popular. But Vince was always trying to get the belt off of him. He tried firing him. But some logical story development would take place allowing him to stay in WWE or be champ. It makes no sense for Steph and HHH to make Orton "The guy" right now, considering their history with him and the other options available to them. This heel logic to me has been as bad as when Sgt Slaughter decided to become a Saddam Hussein fan.
