I can't see this act coming completely from the writing staff.
Perhaps he comes up with some stuff and they help him shape it, but I just can't believe he shows up on Monday or Tuesday and gets handed a script that has his lines already worked out.
How much creative freedom do you think he has with this role?

Probably a lot in terms of promos. I just don't see Stephanie and her sycophants writing this stuff. It sounds like something way beyond their level.

Keep in mind that he pretty much had the same character even before coming to WWE as part of FCW/NXT, so I'd think he comes up with a lot of the promos he says.

Put it this way, if he suddenly starts talking about bad breath and poop, then you know WWE have taken a more active role writing his promos.

I have to assume he writes them, or there's a specific writer FOR them. They're at such a high dialogue level (still not mindblowingly good, but more complicated) than anything else, it has to be the work of a different voice.

It'd be awesome if secretly Dan Spivey was writing Bray's material.

He uses too many big words, and since I don't know what they mean I take them as disrespect. I've never heard him use the word "amicably" :-)

The hype videos prior to their debut and during their first few weeks were definitely all him. Because they essentially just recycled the promos & segments they used to hype the group down in FCW/NXT and plenty of people have commented on how the stuff down there was all from Bray's mind.
If you've watched the practice sessions they had down there too, you can believe it. He came up with some great promos even in those and those are supposedly off the cuff.

This is why he's believable and I believe every wrestler should be given this option like have a guideline or subject for the promo and have the wrestler wing it within the subject matter and opposing wrestler like they did in the 1998\2000 timeframe

I remember reading somewhere that while the former Husky Harris didn't create the Bray Wyatt character (I think Dusty did), the gimmick as portrayed on TV is all him. He even picked his own entrance music.

I don't understand why they seemingly heavily script established stars but let a brand new character write his own stuff.

I don't understand why they seemingly heavily script established stars but let a brand new character write his own stuff. Maybe it's about comfort? Bray might feel comfortable and confident doing his own thing, whereas some might feel better having something written for them.

I think in NXT he had something approaching complete freedom, like Punk they trusted him.
Even though I expect most of his words are his own I think he seems a little more constrained since being on the main roster, he has to keep things a little shorter and on point while making sure to hit the pre-planned catchphrases (buzzards and devils). I don't think that's because they don't trust him, it's just a natural consequence of live TV.

Read HHH was adding the policy of less scripting and more bullet points for performers.

Yeah, Vince Russo said pretty much the same thing in the Kayfabe Commentaries Guest Booker he did. He said some guys are real comfortable coming up with their on promos and others prefer having stuff written for them so they can put most of their attention to what actually goes on in the ring wrestling wise.

He even picked his own entrance music. I believe I read that's why he got his push, they gave him a gimmick that was, on paper, not all that great, but he's made it his own and it's really taken off. Triple H was supposedly impressed with what good shape he got into.

The Wyatts always strike me like what if a high school drama club created a wrestling gimmick and had full creative control over how it was used. Better than Husky Harris flopping around sans shirt, at least.
