I hate how people only seem to get hung up on the middle rope when Rey is involved. Never any other time.

My opinion on Misterio always fluctuates from extremely bored to super excited on the rare occasion he busts out a new move.

I hate Rey Misterio. In the nearly three decades I have watched Wrestling, I can say with no hesitation that Rey is my least favorite main eventer of all time. I keep hoping he will hang it up during his annual injury, but he never does! WHY???

Honestly, I've never found anything Rey does to be all that unbelievable. Not even the 619. Maybe I've just gotten used to it. *Kanye shrug*

It's time for Rey to hang 'em up. I personally haven't been interested in anything he's done for a long, long time. I honestly don't remember the last time actually. The only cool thing he has going is his WM attire, but who knows if he'll ever work another Mania because of his brittleness. Sad really. He was one of the greatest wrestlers on the planet for awhile, but now he's a shell of a shell of his former self.

Am I the only one who still enjoys his matches and has never even been slightly annoyed by the 619 set-up?
Yes? Oh, ok. Carry on!

I always hated the mexican midget. I laugh everytime he gets hurt for 6 months. Oh my god YES! The best thing he has ever done was acting as a lawn dart for Kevin Nash to launch.

I liked Rey back in the day and I have no problem with little guy/big guy matches, but yeah, I'd prefer he call it a career before his knees completely liquify. I think his stuff looks contrived now because he just can't move like he used to, thanks to injury and age.

My girlfriend genuinely thought he was called "Reg Mysterio". To this day i still call him Reg.
I am not sure what this post adds to the debate, but there you have it.
When Reg won the rumble in 2006 was when my belief got tested too far. I mean come on.....

Chalk me up as another person who can't stand Rey.
For me it's the fact a hgue part of his offence requires the opponent to do things they never do. Like the wheelbarrow suplex counter into a bulldog or the sunset flip counter? It seems guys only go for those moves in Rey matches which is stupid. Why decide "hey, today I'll go for a wheelbarrow suplex against the only guy in this company who actually has a counter for the move!"?
Plus I hate that shit eating grin he has after he does something like blindside an opponent, 619 him and then goes scurrying off up the ramp.
I also hate his frogsplash where he just falls forward onto his opponent.

Honestly Drew Mcintyre selling for El Torito on Smackdown this week annoyed me more. That was really suspend your disbelief stuff.

It's not any more or less unbeliefable than when people would always bend over just enough for Booker T to hit his axe kick or every big guy Undertaker ever wrestled going in perfect powerbomb position when he has him in the corner. At least Rey switches up HOW he gets the guys into the second rope sometimes. The kick itself still sucks though. It looks less harmful than his normal heel kicks.

Am I the only one who still enjoys his matches and has never even been slightly annoyed by the 619 set-up? Yes? Oh, ok. Carry on! I have always been a mark for the guy. I think people underestimate how many classic matches he has had in his career throughout Mexico, ECW, WCW and WWE. One of the best in ring talents of his generation, easily. Quite possible the most influential cruiserweight/luchador of all time, especially in bringing that style to North America. He has also proved that you do not need to be the complete package to be an icon and a legend. Even as a Rey fan I admit his mic skills are none existent, but he more than makes up with it in ring work/psychology/look/styles/selling/marketing/experience etc. I look forward to when he goes into the Hall of Fame in the near future And I can suspend my disbelief enough that I have always liked 619. Plus, it's one of those moves that looks easier to do than it is to execute. He has had some beautiful one's in the past, depending on who has sold it. I do miss the West Coast Pop rana, but I can understand for these final few years (of his career) why he doesn't do it anymore and just finishes them with dropping the dime/seated senton.

I don't mind Rey all that much, he's not around long enough for me to get sick of him. He's just been thrown into a lot of garbage recently; the low point was the feud with Mike Knox.

i'm afraid I don't get the whole "the 619 setup is soooo unbelievable!" mentality. any notion that a wrestling match is a legitimate, believable contest should be thrown out the goddamn window from the first irish whip.

I don't know what it is, but I really dislike Rey. So much so that I go into full heel mode when he's on screen. "Oh christ no, please get up and spear that little midget Rei... f*** YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I like Rey but I find he's far too old to be doing his kid-appeal Bumblebee schtick anymore.

It's because it's SO contrived, and wrestlers suddenly becomes magnetically attached to the middle rope for the first time ever. It's different to a guy turning round, dazed, into the GTS, or standing up for Sweet Chin Music. When guys fight Rey they become stumbling, bumbling buffoons. And a guy like Rey fighting a guy like Kane or, most recently, Harper and Rowan is ridiculous in itself. They would squash him like a bug.

I really don't get the whole "He's too small to believably beat anyone" , when most of that guys this board (and the IWC in general) tend to go crazy for are smaller in size as well (Bryan , Punk , Jericho , Borune ,etc).

Drop toehold to the middle rope: "Eh, fine, whatever" He hits someone with a move, they stumble around the ring and then conveniently fall on the middle rope: "Fahking BULLSHIT!" [/sheik]

I remember when the 619 popped the crowd, but it was a "fake out" spot. It had the same result, the crowd loved it, but it was a fake suicide dive, and the heel looked like an idiot for diving out of the way or somethi8ng.
Drop-toe hold into the ropes? Great fine, I can buy that setup, however, the one where Rey hits some kind of move and is running or walking away, heel stumbles and falls into the ropes only for Rey to look over his shoulder in a "well hey look at that" kind of deal is just nonsensical.
I can forgive the axe kick since, if you knock someone down and they start to get up, or you kick them in the balls and they double over, you can hit the move without it looking ridiculous, but...beyond that just no.
