I really don't think anything in that segment was supposed to be intentional buildup to Cena turning. Except maybe the very end with him helping Stephanie up, but I think even that would be reaching a little.

Cena won't turn heel. It's too obvious and they plant those "seeds" to get people to purchase the pay-per-view in hopes that it happens. When you think about it realistically, there's honestly no point in turning him. Granted they could turn him and make him into an ultimate douche heel, however, at this point it's better to just keep him the way he is.
While he is very stale and could use a character change and let's be honest, at least they're actually acknowledging that he's getting booed.

If he didn't turn heel during the Nexus thing, against a red hot Punk, a red hot Daniel Bryan, during the Embrace the Hate thing, and during his feud with The Rock, there is no way he is turning heel now.

I'm getting the feeling we're not going to get a full heel turn, but we are going to get the Authority endorsing Cena after he wins and saying they're happy with him as the face of the company, with Cena being conflicted over it. This could work but I have so little faith in creative that I doubt they'd be able to do anything with it. I'm a firm believer in the fact that WWE will never pull the trigger and turn the guy. Also, I really don't see the need, honestly.

It makes sense. It'll draw. It's something many fans have been asking for. They have replacement faces. Timing is absolutely perfect.
So yeah no way in hell they turn him, get ready for John Cena face champion who reluctantly accepts the Authority liking him.

They've hinted at it so many times--only to swerve in the other direction. Eventually it will happen. There's no problem in hoping for it.
I'd like to see a list of all the times that it looked like they were going to pull the trigger on turning Cena heel.

Although the idea is there, the WWE will never turn Cena heel. They're happier with him being a divisive character amongst the fanbase, which is ironic, because most of your top champions should have most of the audience on their side.

A Cena heel turn is the only way this angle can be salvaged, with him as the corporate champion, and Daniel Bryan as his opponent.
Anything else is just typical WWE holding pattern shit.

If and when we get a Cena turn, it won't be a heel turn, it will be an anti-heel turn, the same idea as Punk. We basically have this now. He's just the goody-two-shoes version of it.

I like the idea of the Authority endorsing Cena, but against Cena's wishes.
Have HHH/Kane/whoever else interfere on behalf of Cena during matches without Cena's knowledge and keep the title firmly around Cena's waist with Cena either completely in the dark about it or openly against it.
After a couple of months of this, THEN you reveal that Cena was in on it all along and go with the hard heel turn.
That could be pretty compelling.

I think the more likely scenario is Cena winning, then Triple H making him immediately defend the title against someone they aren't afraid to turn - Sheamus.
