The Crowd instantly went dead. I laughed so hard.

I was going to ask when this happened, but then I realised the better question is when this didn't happen...

He's soooooooo boring. He was never more than an uinteresting midcarder with a gimmick of his own ring announcer and a nice car.

Once his theme started playing people in the crowd became more depressed than when they lost the Sonics.

(Cue that gif of the crowd all sitting on their hands when the camera pans across to get a reaction)

He somehow generates negative heat. Not cheers, not boos.... sound is literally reversed around him.
A decent wrestler, but he hasn't changed his schtick since day 1, and the crowd's insanely bored with it at this point.

it was hilarious. crowd was red-hot for Daniel Bryan winning Superstar of the Year and chanting like crazy only to instantly become quiet as a tomb as soon as Del Rio's music hit. even Rob Conway ever did anything like that.

no, no you see the crowd was cheering so loudly that they accidently went up so high in pitch that dogs around the arena were running around outside barking like crazy to get the deafening roar to please stop and save their poor canine ears.

Maybe Del Rio should be the new Sin Cara "Look Cole look! Sin Cara's refusing to break the headlock! I've never seen this kind of aggressiveness before!!!!!!!!!!"

Could the Del Rio pop replace the Conway pop? At least Conway wasn't shoved down our throats for years as a Main Eventer like Del Rio.

I think once something's gotten into the lexicon like X-pac Heat or Conway Pop it's very hard to change the term, even when there are better examples that crop up later.

I think sucking the life out of a previously hot crowd deserves it's own name. So far I've only seen two instances of it happening, Jindar Mahal was first to do so when he entered the Royal Rumble and Del Rio arguably topped that on Raw. As you say Del Rio is main eventer that's been heavily pushed for years so I think it should be named after him, although it happens so infrequently it doesn't really matter.

It was hilarious to experience live. I brought my daughter with me to her first show, and all night I kept having to lean in really close to hear what she was saying because it was so loud. When Del Rio's music hit, she said "Del Rio, daddy" and I heard her clear as day. I'd never actually experienced a Conway Pop before. Every show I've been to has always had crowd noise to some degree. It was almost surreal.
