Alberto should get a fireman gimmick, dude knows how to kill the heat. Maybe the Pacers should sign him for the playoffs

Is Del Rio the most un-over multiple time World Champion in WWE history? I think the guy's a good hand, but I can't think of one reason why he gets the push he does.

Has there ever been a former WWE Champion that means as less than Del Rio? Even David Arquette and Vince Russo as former WCW Champions got massive heat in their company.

He reflects the failure of WWE's policy that began with JBL where they would quickly push a guy to the belt and expect him to be instantly over. It worked with JBL, but completely failed with Del Rio, Jack Swagger and a few others in the era of Money in the Bank. As a result, being world champion can mean a failed main event push as much as it does reaching the pinnacle of your trade.

To be fair Del Rio is not facing really over faces.
-Sheamus never really got over like he should have (as a face) -He got heat when he first beat Ziggler -During his Cena feud, not one really seemed to care about him -The crowd was kind of into the match vs Christian at SS
But yeah, his act went stale months ago. The best part of his character was Ricardo, and he was actually getting reactions for Del Rio, but the WWE did not want that, so they buried Ricardo

With Del Rio the funny thing is they don't even try to hide the fact he isn't over.
I mean usually a wrestler comes out, they'll find a few people in the crowd marking and focus on that, even if the wrester isn't really over. Or just focus on the wrestler at least.
With Del Rio, they always give the most unflattering views of the crowd. Like they want to make sure you know no one cares.

I remember this is how it became obvious to me that Del Rio's patriotic babyface run was doomed. When a big face is doing their entrance, they always find someone in the crowd with a sign about them to show... but for Del Rio, they'd cut to signs about Ricardo Rodriguez or his entrance.

Watch any of his WWF appearances from mid-'94 until he left for WCW and you'll hear a crapton of DIESEL chants. Live crowds loved him.

They still had the old world cheer the good guy mantra with crowds. And to his defense his fueds were with who? HBK still wasnt really "made" yet, A pronlonged fued with British Bulldog and heel Sid, and then Mabel. There really wasnt much to get excited about.

I think Del Rio was pretty over as a face. What ultimately killed Del Rio's face run was Dolph Ziggler's concussion. Del Rio was just collateral damage due to the fans sympathizing with Dolph and rallying behind him.
