He's not bad but his presentation needs work. He gave way too much offense to 120 pounds jobbers and cut the same promo. Maybe once he fights better competition (No, Sting doesn't count) and cut meaningful promos, his fortune will approve. But right now he's the heel version of Magnus; someone who you expect to be better than what they are.

Eh, he's okay.
I like this gimmick better than him trying to be funny on NXT.

Nah, man. I get it. Like, what are they building towards with this gimmick? Legit competition to kick the crap out of him, right? It'd be something if he were in competitive matches but the Carter name easily tips things to his favor but it's just like...doesn't this gimmick hinge on us believing he actually sucks? I don't get it either. He's been having matches with these scrubs like Dewey Barnes and Norv Fernum, and they keep giving them really long hope spots, as if EC3 isn't good enough to dominate these guys outright. The 2-on-1 match he had with them sent me A LOT of mixed signals with how much offense The Nerds got, to the point where I feel like they were showcasing Fernum and Barnes as lovable losers just as more than they were Ethan Carter III.

Maybe that was the intention. To establish Norv and Dewey as a jobber tag team that gets sympathetic heat.

They only really get in offense after he gets cocky & doesn't take them seriously, almost toying with them, then they start getting in the offense on him, before he finally gets pissed & just decides to end it. Basically, it's his ego & elitist attitude that has almost cost him & one of these days, it'll catch up with him.

I get his arrogance leaves him open but a guy like Norv shouldn't be spending half of the match on offense against EC3. Even if the match is 3 minutes long, a minute and half is way too long on spent on the jobbers getting shine. If anything, the jobbers are the ones who are impressing in ring wise. Kills the point of a squash match.

No, it doesn't hinge on him believing he sucks. That's the mistake WWE made with MVP at first. What you want people to think is that he's a talented guy who takes on weakass opponents because he's taking shortcuts.

I was excited for him, but making him a Carter and making his personality...not quirky is pretty boring. The vignettes and stuff had some promise, but now I don't care.

To to the virgin eyes who never seen him in WWE before his rechristening as EC3, there haven't been any indication of talent. He's basically MVP when he first debuted. And I vividly remember people didn't call MVP talented in the initial stages of his WWE run. Hell, folks were mad his feuds with Chris Benoit and Kane were Even Steven because he wasn't in their league as a wrestler. As Bateman, he was considered an underrated talent. As EC3, he's a chump who struggles against jobbers and using nepotism to get ahead.

He outshined Sting in that promo on thursday. That's like bragging about having better credit than Ric Flair. Not a big feat.

That's what I'm saying, and I also count as "virgin eyes." ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png) I knew he was in WWE for a bit but I never saw any of his work there and really I shouldn't have to in order to get the guy isn't a lump. MVP actually being a solid wrestler saved him from sinking like a stone, because I'm not even sure they realized he was as good as he was but don't quote me on that. Is it going to take EC3 being set on fire before they turn a corner on this gimmick, because I really wish they'd stop doing the thing. So, you have someone kick EC3's ass. Then what? The entire time you've established he was bush league who always hid behind his name whenever it came to getting his hands dirty. You've got to rebuild him into a wrestler we're supposed to take seriously and I'm frustrated at it like I was with MVP. It's like, you could've saved yourselves a lot of trouble with having to rebuild his credibility if you gave him some in the first place, you know? To me the sooner they have someone kick his ass so they can stop chasing that one pop is the sooner they can establish him as an in-ring threat.

Additionally, he's roided up to the gills. Sometimes I wonder if people think it's impossible to get in shape without steroids. Dude was jacked in WWE as well but never got popped for wellness, but yep he's on the juice what with that physique that looks like any big dude at the rec, certainly can't look like that with only training........

Additionally, he's roided up to the gills. I doubt he's on roids. When you consider how underutilized he was in WWE, being fired from WWE (90 day no-compete clause), andTNA's lighter schedule, he had plenty of time to eat and train properly without relying on roids

There are plenty of people who are on roids in wrestling. EC3 is not one of them.

Can we not have the whole "IT IS OBVIOUS HE'S ON STEROIDS! LOOK AT HIS BODY!" argument again? Because it loses it's legs when you consider both Funaki and Rey, who were far from ripped were popped for 'roids.

EC3 looks like 12 pounds of sausage in a 8 pound casing. Juice or no juice, he's looking freakish.

Because it loses it's legs when you consider both Funaki and Rey, who were far from ripped were popped for 'roids. You are aware that we used to call Rey Mini-Batista right? He was obviously on roids because, much like Chris Benoit, his physique was not proportional with the rest of his body. An even more obvious sign with Rey being on steroids was that he was nearly twice the size that he was while in WCW. Sure he gre older but he was broad as hell.

Well alright, admittedly he's a bad example. But come on, Funaki? He was far from ripped or even remotely roid-y looking.
