Good idea or bad idea?
It would be quite cool seeing him make a random appearance cutting a promo.

Good idea or bad idea? It would be quite cool seeing him make a random appearance cutting a promo. Bad. He's spent years away from the wrestling business and the best Waylon Mercy work was pretaped so there's no guarantee that his live promos would be any good. There's also the fact he looks like death warmed up these days and that very few people will remember of his actual work as he was only in the WWF for a few months during their lowest ebb, and spent most of that squashing jobbers rather than in any actual feuds. Peoples strange desire to see active performers paired with guys who played similar gimmicks decades ago that the audience don't remember baffles me. What next? Wanting Jack Swagger paired with Alex 'The Pug' Porteau because they're bland athlete characters in singlets?

I'd rather see Jake Roberts. He's a name people remember and he seems cleaned up now (though a sober Jake may not be as good at promos).

I rather they bring back Mike Knox's beard as a member.

As a full time character-no way, Spivey is too old, too beat up, looks nothing like he did back then, and is only known to an older portion of the audience. However, Wyndham Rotunda has confirmed the Waylon Mercy character was an inspiration for Bray Wyatt, and given Spivey did team with Mike Rotunda many times, I've long thought it would be cool for a Wyatt Family promo to feature "grandpappy Wyatt" with Spivey in a guest role, and the character very obviously being an aged Waylon Mercy.

Bad. It is notable that the replacement for Bray's uncle to team with Bray's father in the U.S. Express was Dan Spivey.

No. I liked him back in the day but nobody would know who he was or why the Wyatt's are bothering with him. It would just be pointless.

Aside from maybe the 7 people that would "get it", why?

Compromise: give him a cameo in one of those freaky bayou promos they do for the Wyatts.

It wouldn't be a very good idea, if you know what I mean?

He's so irrelevant it would never happen, but on the upside, he appears to have cleaned up and is running some kind of addiction treatment center in Stamford now. So if he was on good terms with the WWE, I guess it wouldn't be that shocking to see him pop up somewhere, but not as himself, just as an extra.

As an actual member of the stable and/or cutting a promo for a live crowd, bad idea, but a brief one-off appearance in a pretaped segment (something like Hunter S. Thompson's cameo in "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas") would be pretty awesome.

A while back I did suggest how I think a Wyatt promo with Spivey would go... *note-as the title says, this is a fantasy, there is little if any chance of it ever happening, but it would be a supreme markout moment of it did* <the camera reveals Bray Wyatt standing in an empty room, looking like an abandoned cabin. Nearby an old man sits, rocking back and forth in a rocking chair. He is old and emaciated looking and dressed like the grandpa from Texas Chainsaw Massacre, his head lowered and his face not visible to the camera> Bray Wyatt: You know, everything I know I learned from my grandpappy. See unlike my daddy my grandpappy cared about me, cos he was a real peaceful man, he liked things nice and peaceful. He taught me to enjoy the simple things in life like picnics, he taught me to enjoy nature. But my grandpappy, he didn't like it when animals crawled on him. He didn't like it when people touched him. And he taught me that if people touch you the wrong way boy, you <claps> squish em! You squish em like a little worm! My grandpappy inspired me, taught me how badly this world needed guidance, needed saving! And he told me I was meant for great things. I'll never forget my grandpappy looking at me, and he told me "Lives are gonna be in your hands boy..." <the camera closes in on the man in the chair, who raises his head to reveal Dan Spivey. He smiles at the camera in a faintly sinister manner and completes the sentence> Spivey: Know what I mean? <Bray kneels alongside the chair, his face level with Spivey's, and they join in a round of jovial but demented laughter and then flash a pair of matched grins at the camera. Blackout> *note-once again, this is a fantasy. It would have worked great for the Wyatt families NXT days, but now that they are on the main roster not so much. And don't deny you would go crazy if it ever happened.*

I'd rather see Jake Roberts. He's a name people remember and he seems cleaned up now (though a sober Jake may not be as good at promos). It would be really funny if this were the case, without the booze/drugs he just has nothing interestnig to say. "So uh....cold outside huh? Winter time, eh ya know. The holidays and all that. Gotta do my shoppin, you do yours? Ah..............you guys wanna see some DDTS or what?"
