The Gone series by Michael Grant is some of the most fun I've ever had reading. Just ridiculously brutal and gory.
The TimeRiders by Alex Scarrow is alternate history on steroids, just tons of fun.
Zom-B, the wait between books will be brutal.
James Patterson is as great as ever in the Maximum Ride series.
Barker's Abarat world. Firstclass.

Skullduggery is a young adult novel? Huh, if so, it's one of my favorite book series.
Also loved Daughter of Smoke and Bones, Shadow and Bone from the Grisha series, Ranger Apprentice... and many others

I've read the Maximum Ride series and the first few books in the Gone series as well.
I haven't been reading much lately, but when I do go to the library, the YA section is usually my first stop.

I misread the thread title somehow as Yaoi fiction.

Yup
YA fiction is awesome and usually very imaginative. My favourite is the Mortal Engine series from Philip Reeve. Fantastic stuff. Likewise his Larklight trilogy set in a Victorian era London that has managed to develop space travel is also very awesome and creative.
There always seems to be much more creativity in YA fiction than adult fiction. Guess because adult fiction, for the most part, needs to be shackled by "reality" otherwise the majority of adults will dismiss it as crap and unbelievable where as YA and kids are more open to ideas like schools of wizards, Victorian spacecraft and time travel and such.

I've been reading a lot of YA fiction lately. Read a great novel called Evil Genius by Catherine Jinks a few weeks back that I'd recommend.

John Green is the greatest writer today, regardless of genre

John Green is the greatest writer today, regardless of genre The Fault in Our Stars is possibly the most beautifully written yet saddest love stories I have ever read
