This had to have been Vince's idea. Please, Vince probably doesn't know what a Selfie is.

This had to have been Vince's idea. Vince is just learning about Facebook, he won't get around to selfies until 2018 or so.

I just got an iPhone a few weeks ago - finally - and I learned how to download an app within seconds. That they need to meticulously explain how to download an app for WWE viewers week after week........well, I think this really shows what special kind of stupid populates the WWE Universe. ![O_o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/browraise.png)

This is the WWE equivalent to the Three Wise Men, the Three Raving Jackasses. Or the Three Stooges; Lamey, Coley, and Jibbles.

I listened to Jim Ross on the Jim Cornette Experience podcast talk about the importance of the announcer in calling a match, and gave this great analogy that the wrestlers compose the music and the announcers write the lyrics. Then I saw that.
On NXT, Tyler Breeze takes selfies all the time, and it's done to make him look obnoxious, and with what happened tonight, man, that's a really good gimmick. It really makes a person look completely obnoxious, they're really hitting with good stuff on NXT.

It's almost like they're trying to f*** with everyone who still takes wrestling seriously. Arn Anderson probably starts hitting random staffers with Spinebusters when they do this shit. As if wrestling should be taken seriously. I thought it was pretty funny.

As if wrestling should be taken seriously. I thought it was pretty funny. Wrestling should be taken seriously, and could be. Like, what about acting. Like, on a stage, the actors are in a middle of a performance, and let's have one of them stop and take a selfie for no reason, like Lady MacBeth decides to take a selfie. I'm not a fan of that, and maybe I'm just wanting too much. It's like, no one is taking pride in their work and effort, and the idea that wrestling shouldn't be taken seriously is why wrestling will probably die off in the future because, who cares, we can do whatever we want, it's just wrestling. If that's the case, why have matches? Why does any of what's happening in the ring matter? Cody's in there selling, but who cares, *click*. It's like back in the day in WCW when guys would kill themselves in the crusierweight matches, and the announcers would laugh at them. Why have wrestling then?

All I saw were two assholes mocking Jerry's ever growing Alzheimers. TLC was bad enough.

Well yea, a selfie during a MacBeth perofrmance would be stupid and painfully out of place during something so highbrow and actually worth taking seriously. Heck, it would bother me if it happened in something on the level of a comic book film. But wrestling, which has always been a few notches below Family Guy in terms of overall class? In all of its idiocy when it actually tries to be "serious"? Here, I think it's ok. I'd go as far to say it's healthy for the show to have a little fun with itself here and there.

The commentary team is fundamentally broken. As long as these f***s treat it like they are kicking back and have a beer at the bar, it will always be terrible and the product will suffer because of it.

The announce team is the worst and that's before one even factors in how stupid the selfie was.

Nobody is going to be cheering this though. The only reason wrestling is viewed terribly is because of stuff like this, it's almost circular. Well, wrestling is low brow, so stuff that continues to perpetuate how low brow it is is ok. If it were more serious a lot more then having, that on there, then there wouldn't be this problem of "oh, it's just wrestling" and maybe it could actually become more popular because people think of it as more then the commentators taking selfies. And as other people have been saying, I guess the selfie thing is just the straw that broke the camel's back as Vince would say. When Daniel Bryan is wrestling Randy Orton, they're trying to be serious and they're killing themselves to be seen as serious. I kinda hope the Rhodes Brothers and Show and Rey were not working hard during that, and they probably should have worked a 10 minute rest hold instead of bumping and selling while the commentators are shitting on them.

Eh, I think it's safe to say that wrestling's bad reputation has to do with many, many, many other factors outside of its announcers joking around and taking the odd photo. And there's essentially no conceivable way to make wrestling any more culturally accepted than it was during Rock 'n Wrestling and Attitude- two periods where it was shit on as much as it was lauded. Its "respect" level during those points was somewhere at Miley Cyrus's current position, loved by a rabid fanbase and mocked by everyone else. I don't think self deprecation is always an automatic success tool, but to me acting as if something like a selfie could reflect poorly on the product is really blowing it out of proportion.
