I was wondering if there was any MP3 players that could also play video that you can get for $30 or less? I figured such a thing wouldn't exist, but was in the market for a new MP3 player and thought I'd check with you fine folks before paying $30 for an MP3 player I know to be realiable (but that doesn't play videos )

I lost my last MP3 player while I was on vacation, and I went to a pawn shop and bought a used cell phone with a headphone jack and SD card slot for $10, was even able to exchange it with Virgin Mobile for a new one when I f***ed up and locked it. It's been really good for me and if anything happens to it I'll try to do the same thing again. I find it's definitely a lot easier to keep track of and use than the actual MP3 players I would buy (like Sansa Clip). The video player on this particular phone is essentially useless, however.

It isn't that low, though you might be able to go to a Gamestop and get a used Gen 3 iPod Nano 4GB for ~$45.
As for new, it's next to impossible to find one with video playback for that cheap. You would have to go to ~$50 before you would see any like that and higher for quality.

I got one for $35 at Wal-Mart. It's 4GB, but you add up to 16 GB to a total of 20GB with the use of a Micro Sandisk. Work wonderfully and has a built-in camera as well.

The old one was only $30 and lasted me for years. It still technically works, but there is something wrong with the headphone port so you get lots of static-like noise and sometimes the audio just dies out completely. Still, before recently I never had a problem with it.

I would honestly check Craigslist for a used android device. An old Motorola Droid X or samsung model could be had for pretty cheap.

It's also has a speaker, the ability to adjust the sound to your liking, calculator, notepad, stopwatch, calendar, and recorder. It does a lot.
