Give him $25 and he'll like Hitler more than Tila Tequila does. Give him another 25 and he'll get a "I *heart* Vince Russo" tattoo. Or give him money and he'll dislike both.

The Cornette hate on these boards is really irritating. Any particular reason why? Because an awful lot of it seems to be based on assumptions and calling him essentially a mercenary as though no one else in the wrestling business has ever been that or without any proof that he is one. It also seems to be lazily assumed that he 'hates everyone'. I've watched a lot of his shoots. The only people he genuinely seems to hate are Russo and Dunn. He has many friends in that regard. And this BS that he would somehow talk bad about anyone for money again just seems to go back to the same boring 'Cornette's a mercenary' schtick. Far more irritatingly, it seems to have only sprung up since his last tenure in ROH. Almost as though daring to not like Steen/Generico/Cabana has made him the devil to some. Not all, because we're not a hivemind. I must remember that. Dunno, just think there's balance. Personally, and this is probably no shock considering my posts on it, I like him. I can see why people can't, but calling him a people-hating mercenary just seems a bit...well, irritating.

Corny loves wrestling (look at him showing off his memorabilia collection to Heenan, he is like a kid showing off his Christmas presents to his favorite uncle) and if you love wrestling that much, then of course you're going to be equally passionate if you feel that something you love is being sullied.

I think this board is genuinely entertained & sympathetic towards Corny compared to a lot of other places on the internet. I personally like him too, and in one of those "what if" scenarios of running a wrestling company, Cornette would be on the short list of guys I'd bring in for the creative/booking team. Although, I'd have someone there to keep the vernacular hip.

I think he likes Davey richards but dislikes Kevin Steen, El Generico, Colt Cabana and Austin Aries. yeah in a recent interview he said he loves DAvey, but he doesn't understand the concept of the business side of wrestling. He says Steen is in wrestling to wrestle in front of 500 people rather than to be the best in the world. Dunno how he feels about Generico,Canana, and Aries but he said that Gabe,Pearce, and Delirious all told him that the toughest people to deal with from a booking standpoint was Steen and Generico, but he seemed to give more blame to Steen I remember reading an article where he talked about the Kenny King ROH situation and also in that article he mentioned Aries was a miserable person.

Hatred is too easily thrown out here I feel.
Corny & Steen: Corny doesn't hate Steen, he always makes it a point to say how dedicated he is to the wrestling business and how good his performances are when he's in shape. Corny's main thing with Steen was that he was a high maintenance individual who would question each and every creative decision and booking that affected him, which is apparently true. Cornette also has a problem with Steen's weight, which he feels should be much lower and indeed, Kevin Steen was a cruiserweight when he graduated from Rougeau Gym and perhaps the weight he put on fits the character more, but I'm sure he's not pulling 450s out of his ass so much anymore, and it used to be his finish. Steen hates Corny, but have you noticed that any promoter who had issues with Steen becomes the biggest scumbag ever when he talks about them? Listening to him talk, it's almost like Rougeau rapes his trainees for crying out loud... he must not be that bad a trainer, TOW got a TV deal and half the roster was trained by him. Sure, he's a prick and a retrograde and an isolationist carny, but a bad trainer he is not. And I like Steen, seems like the kind of guy I'd like to have pizza with and talk wrestling, but he's got quite the temper, much like Cornette himself, and THAT may be the real issue here, strong characters butting head.
Corny & Generico: Despite his philosophy of "Funny don't make money" and probably thinking that a ginger guy that don't speak spanish playing a luchador is preposterous, Cornette really enjoyed Generico's skills in the ring. His problem with Generico, aside of him being Steen's buddy and that Steen probably went to bat for him a couple times, is that Generico didn't speak and as ROH was going on TV, he wanted Generico to speak english, Cornette believed he spoke good enough english to cut a promo and makes it a point to note that for WWE's money, he dropped his act, his mask and IS cutting promos. So obviously he was right!
Corny & Cabana: "Funny don't make money" + Cabana asking too much money + Cabana not fitting in-ring style wise in the ROH Cornette wanted to book = Bye. No hate here.
Also for a guy who has had problems with the Clique, he only really burries Shawn. He likes Waltman, he likes Nash (doesn't think much of him in the ring, but that's a valid point) and I've never heard him bury Hall. He has a problem with Triple H that stems from him not meaning his appology for the Curtain Call and some vague thing related to him politicking his way to the top. But hate I'd say can only apply to Shawn here.
He doesn't hate Heyman. He said he'd work with him. He calls him a liar (Truth!) and wasn't fond of ECW but he always gives props to Heyman for his creativity and passion.
I'm not sure he hates Vince REALLY. He hates that Vince let Russo destroy the wrestling he loved, that he let Laurinaitis destroy the WWE developmental system as Jim created it, and that he let Shawn Michaels do as he pleased, but Vince himself never seemed to do anything to him.

Cornette complaining about someone being difficult to work with because they always question creative decisions? That's rich.

Cornette and Bobby Heenan look at Cornette's wrestling memorabilia I discovered those the other day, I loved those. I could watch these two go through memorabilia and telling stories all day. Give them 30 minutes on the History Channel every week. "Here's something you'll love Bobby. Verne Gagne, when he had hair." "He ain't had hair since he was seven!" "You ever work with [Edouard Carpentier]?" "Yes. Nice man." [To camera:] "Pain in the ass. Nice man, but a pain in the ass."
