I was watching some Dancing Fools stuff from WCW and I've gotta say, as goofy and cheesy as they were I found them extremely entertaining, to anyone who watched WCW at that point, what was your opinion on them?

f***ing LOVED Alex Wright. Could have been a WWE main eventer if the world was more fair. Disco was pretty underrated too and I love all the silly stories of him on the booking committee.

Alex was a hell of a wrestler, and probably could have gone somewhere if the Aneurysm hadn't derailed him.

Easily my favorite comedic tag-team of WCW....we referred to them as "The Twinkle Toe Twins" (Credit to Bobby Heenan).

I liked the brief period where Tokyo Magnum was trying to join them. Not sure if the subtle WWII reference was intended or not though.

Disco Duck carried those 2 for years. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) Seriously though, I enjoyed Boogie Knights. A goofy tag team that were fun to see towards the end.

They were good. I liked the Boogie Knights more than the Dancing Fools but yeah they were a very fun comedic tag team. Disco is very underrated and Alex probably could have had a U.S Title run when he was doing the Berlyn thing.
Another interesting note, when WCW died Alex Wright was just 25 years old. I'm surprised WWE didn't pick him up considering at age 25 he had 6 years of mainstream wrestling experience.

Only way Wright was going to WWE would be for Terra Ryzing to get his win back from Starrcade 94.

Only way Wright was going to WWE would be for Terra Ryzing to get his win back from Starrcade 94. We all know who would win that one.

Wright was a great wrestler, but unfortunately limited by both his gimmicks and the fact that the WCW roster was bloated with talent during his peak years. Disco had an entertaining character, but I was never really into his matches.
EDIT: "Peak" as in "during his WCW tenure", and not what levels he might have reached if he'd joined the WWF or another national promotion after WCW's purchase.

Wright was young, good looking, talented and had a great attitude, but a victim of WCW having such a bloated roster, poor timing and certain midcarders feeling they were above being used to get new guys over, see Paul Roma, then Buff Bagwell and Jim Duggan... If a midcarder felt they deserved a spot higher up the card, Wright would be the one they take out their frustrations out on because WCW thought building up a German star to help their expansion into that market would be a good idea... Foolish, I know.
I feel the Berlyn gimmick would have gained more traction had standards and practices not freaked out over Columbine the way they did. I have absolutely no idea why people consider it a dumb gimmick when the evil foreigner has been a staple of wrestling for decades. He had a cool look, dressed in black, his German promos were much better than his English and the explanation for it made sense, unlike a lot of what was going on at that time, he was tired of working his backside off and dancing for a crowd that didn't take to him,
Disco, I will never understand why the WWE never picked him up after WCW's demise. He managed to take what should be a dead end gimmick and make it work for his entire WCW run when by all rights he should have been a Worldwide jobber with a gimmick like the Gambler. He took a dumb gimmick and made it work, face or heel and never once dropped it all to become a toughguy with a real name like so many of his WCW peers, well, until he had to drop portions of the gimmick for trademark reasons after WCW's collapse.

Anything Disco Inferno was involved in worked for me. Loved that guy. Perfect example of a lower-midcard kind of character with an interesting gimmick who also produced in the ring.

I didn't realize Alex Wright was only 25 when WCW went under, that guy could still be in WWE now if they had picked him up. I too have no idea why they didn't seeing as he had been a WCW staple for ages by that point. Maybe he pissed off Triple H when he wrestled there or something haha

'Disqo' trying so bad to be in the Wolfpack and later his music video feud with Konnan - classic!
Why did Wright not grow his hair back after the Berlyn gimmick crashed and he became himself again?

Well he had a big Turner contract so he decided to sit out, but he also had a back injury and was burnt out of wrestling. Apparently he's a pretty good trainer now.

According to Wright, his hairline was starting to recede before he started the Berlyn gimmick so he was relieved to have a reason to shave it.
