I was just thinking about this. He gets a ton of praise from IWC members, but I just can't see it ever happening. The guy is a beyond decent wrestler, but I think his look really hurts him. I think he is about 28, but he looks a lot older (mid 30s at least).

If he still has it, I feel they'd make him lose the mullet. Which may not be a bad thing. Nevertheless, from what I've seen of him, he'd be great. Dude's a beast.

They could just give him a gimmick where he is from the late '70's- early 80's.

Yeah, if he shaved his head I think it would help a lot. A big part of the reason his looking older than he should is the balding. I think even with a shaved head he'd still look older than he is, but better for WWE's purposes.

Elgin is a lot like Taz, a talented wrestler whose size will be exposed once he leaves the confines of his home turf. Don't get me wrong, dude is a f***ing beast in the ring. But he's going to have an uphill battle convincing WWE management to take a chance on him with a tryout yet alone a spot in NXT. If he keeps improving, enough people in WWE will support him to the point he will get a fair shot. It worked for a number of indy standouts on the current WWE roster.

He'd be Mike Awesome. He looks like a beast in ROH because he stands out as a crazy power guy with some agility. When you move him to the WWE, where he's not that big and can't do the crazy stuff he loses a lot of his appeal.

I don't know about Elgin. Dude's great, but I'd see WWE reaching out to Brian Cage again before him.

Elgin I see alot like Sami Callihan actually. Their styles aren't exactly alike, but similar builds and sizes and general style of matches. Sami in the indies played the beast alot and tended to act the part of the "bigger man" in alot of matches. Yet Callihan has adapted by all reports and has made his way into the WWE, well NXT, but you get the idea. And, NXT at least seems to be high on him from how he's coming in.
If Elgin can make the switch over that Callihan did, I see no reason why he couldn't get into NXT at least. And, having seen Elgin play the smaller guy in a match before and still be good, I think he can do it. He'd just have to commit to it.
For example, I think it was C4, though don't quote me on that, that had a great Brodie Lee/Luke Harper vs. Michael Elgin match where Elgin played the littler guy in the match. I remember seeing it a few years back when Elgin first started getting buzz and before he went to ROH.

I'd like to see it, but Bad News pretty much hit it head on. I'd also compare him to Rhino but without the GORE thing that was so over.
Now Tommaso Ciampa, there's a guy WWE will snatch up sooner than later.

A Swiss Superman.

I don't know about Elgin. Dude's great, but I'd see WWE reaching out to Brian Cage again before him. I suspect Cage has been blackballed. If not officially, then effectively. When your reaction to failing a pre-signing drug test is to send them an information pack and an argument that amounts to 'I'm not taking steroids any more, but the steroids I was taking in FCW can stay in the system for years. That must be what you detected' you're not going to get hired by those people any time soon. If you pissed hot when you aren't signed, and admit to taking banned substances when you were signed they have no reason to trust you won't use them again if you're re-signed.

Now Tommaso Ciampa, there's a guy WWE will snatch up sooner than later. I don't know why they released Ciampa in the first place. Being released is probably one of the best things that's ever happened to Ciampa. He's been given the chance to come into his own on the bigger indies and if he gets back to WWE, he'll have much more to offer. With that said, I'd love to see the Sicilian Psychopath on the bigger stage. As far as Elgin goes, I think if he ever did get signed; he'd have a similar run to Rhino. Rhino was another guy who looked monsterous in ECW and was/is really stocky like Elgin, but looked a lot less impressive when he made the roster. With that said, Rhino still had a pretty decent run in WWE overall. I think Elgin could have a similar run if they gave him the chance.

I have never seen an Elgin match, yet I have heard or seen his name literally every day for the past two weeks. Imma look up some of his stuff.

Imma look up some of his stuff. having to make do with what's available on YouTube, here he is against Sami Callihan (Solomon Crowe): and just for shits and giggles, here is a match with him dressed as Tinky Winky from the Teletubbies:
