Random not related to the episode:  Like that hairstyle for Luna a lot better. I'll give Bats! an 8, as I would have also preferred more of the POV of the bats. Everything else was great though. Oh, and:  |

"Bats!"...gets a 9/10 from me. What I liked about this episode: -The Vampire Fruit Bats had good looking designs and make a good contribution to Equestria's bestiary. -The episode had (like last week's "Power Ponies") a good pacing where no part felt like it dragged too long. Everything was in a right time frame. -VAMPIRESHY! She can suck me dry anytime!  -The conflict of the episode was good for the most part with everything from the dilemma and the discussions feeling understandable for the most part (especially the short-term against long-term solution). -The song was decent. I have a feeling that it will grow on me when I hear it a few more times. -The scary imagery of the orchard at night was also very impressive. What I didn't like about this episode: -I like Fluttershy and all, but her song argument regarding the bat was pretty bad. So, she does not know anything about the Vampire Fruit Bats but does know that they care for their family and such? I guess she just pulled that out of her plot (Twilight summed it up best). -Rainbow Dash really was coming across as a cider addict throughout most of the episode. Very weird. -That they ultimately chose the long-term solution felt also a little off because their first solution did solve the problem. But I guess AJ did feel sorry for Flutters and wanted to make her feel better. Yes, a 9/10 it is. |
