Cesaro's beating up Byron Saxton, and you don't even attempt to help him? Dude, pretty sure you're a wrestler, you could at least try and help.
Dick move A-Ri, dick move. And yes, I will say it to your face!

Maybe Riley lost his wrestler powers same way Saxton did? The same way HBK takes a ref bump now and is dead for 20 minutes.

Because A-Ry's being screwed over.
Otherwise, HE would be the one feuding with Cesaro and not Regal.

I thought this thread was going to be about the Eddie Guerrero/Tyson Kidd comment he made a couple of weeks ago.

But why shouldn't Riley get some shine in a feud. I feel that there's no real upside to Riley being a commentator unless he has the announcer/wrestler feuds, and he should be the one doing them.

Wrestling isn't always building everybody up, it's about providing entertainment to the audience and I guarantee you more people want to see Regal/Cesaro than almost any program with Riley in.

Based on how often he wrestles and his status as semi-retired grizzled badass on NXT, Regal probably has a say in who he works programs with. He probably wanted to work with Cesaro because he respects his talent. It's not always about who needs it, it's about potential quality as well.

He can't get over and be entertaining if he isn't given the proper opportunity to prove himself. He has personality and charisma and needs the proper (and appropriate) outlet to showcase it.

It was worse than that, he even berated his fellow non-wrestling commenter for not helping while he sat there doing nothing.

I hate to break it to ya but Riley is 100% finished wrestling for WWE. Riley should continue his wrestling career. There's no real reason for him to not be wrestling, even in just an enhancement role. He's too young to be put out to pasture and busted his ass getting better in the ring. He deserves to have a successful and respectable career in the business. He deserves to get another shot after all the strides he's made. As a color commentator, his job is to speak from a wrestler's perspective and he really isn't doing a great job at that. But maybe if he lived out a full wrestling career, it would really help him out as an announcer. Also, imo it looks awkward to have a full time announcer who looks like he could take any given guy on the roster in a fight.

There's not one guy on TV right now that Riley should be pushed over. It's WWE, not little league baseball. It's not about everyone getting to play so the mommies and daddies are happy, there are no participation trophies. He's a mediocre talent on a roster that's full of exceptional talents. His main skill seemed to be his talking, so they put him on color commentary and he's flopped at that. Matt Striker was a better wrestler, talker, and commentator than Alex Riley, and they let him go. What does that tell you?
