So how long did those vignettes airing in 1996 and 1997 last anyway? It seems like they went on for about a year. Also, fun fact: Did you know outside of the ring Brakkus has worked as a cinematographer? www.imdb.com/name/nm1628666/

That's pretty ironic considering the WWF never really gave him a shot.

The gimmick would have taken off if they'd based it on this guy: ![](http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/4010/2en4.jpg)

For about an entire year, I can recall reading house show results and Brakkus was the dark match in practically every single one of them. He either beat Dr. Tom Pritchard or Dr. X 99% of the time.
I only recall 2 TV matches in that entire time, and he got his butt whipped both times.

I remember his promos and nothing. I do also remember seeing a clip of him against Jeff Jarrett from a tour in Germany and Jarret made him submit to the figure four clean as a whistle. Pretty much tells you that he was never going to amount to anything.

I remember him getting his ass kicked by Savio Vega in the Brawl-for-All. Mainly because I watched a youtube video of it and the comments were all gleeful about a fat Puerto Rican beating up a muscled up manly German and how hot it was. That's not some shit you just forget about and move on.

I mostly remember Taz beating him in 3 minutes or so, man did Brakkus look out of place in ECW.

Yeah I've seen those too. I never thought of wrestling that way, but I guess it does make sense. From a certain perspective jobber matches can definitely be viewed as men in trunks doing some dom/sub roleplay stuff. I wonder how Arn feels about his popularity in THE GAY COMMMUNITY!? I also wonder if promoters were aware of that view and marketed towards it.

I liked those promos. They had a sense of impending doom.
I didn't know anything about him before reading up about him last week after seeing his name in the "Random stuff from old observers" thread.

I only recall 2 TV matches in that entire time, and he got his butt whipped both times. Heck, I was watching the WWF hardcore during that time (I would watch every show and videotape it) and don't even remember him wrestling on WWF programming haha! I checked Wiki before making this thread and apparently he had one match a piece on Shotgun and Raw. I'm sure I saw both matches, but damn if I can remember them. I do clearly remember seeing him wrestle Jeff Jarrett on a UK PPV, which I rented on VHS from Blockbuster. I remember it was surprising that he was still around and finally wrestled. Also, how underwhelming it was that after finally seeing him it was in a loss to Jarrett in what I think was the PPV opener. Also, I remember him getting his ass kicked in the Brawl for All by Savio Vega of all people! If you know Vega's history it's not that surprising, but still Vega looked pretty out of shape by that point whereas Brakkus was chiseled.

A lot of people tend to think his debut and only match on Raw was the Brawl for All loss to Savio Vega, but he had debuted the previous month on Raw against Jesus Castillo Jr. of the Boricuas. For some reason many people missed this match, but everyone caught him on Brawl for All.

Weird how Vince never really gave him a chance considering his fetish for bodybuilder physiques.

I stopped watching wrestling from about late 1999 until 2005. I would flip over to Raw every now and then during those off years, and so when I would hear them talking about Brock Lesnar, I thought he was the same guy as Brakkus (I thought they just shortened Brakkus' name and added a last name), even after I saw Brock I thought it was the same guy because I only remembered that Brakkus was very muscley, and I really didn't remember what he looked like. I soon realized I was quite wrong.

If they ever bring back the I WAS THERE promos...I, ladies and gentlemen, can proudly say I WAS THERE when Savio Vega beat Brakkus in the Brawl For All.

I thought he got injured in his Brawl for All match and that pretty much ended his career.

Actually that 1 minute match against Jesus Castillo on RAW was after his Brawl for All match, which explains why nobody remembers it. Because after he got his ass kicked by Savio, nobody took him seriously.
