That is quite disheartening. I was always hoping he'd make a comeback especially when he'd make a random appearance here and there.

Oh man. Really sorry to hear that. I first noticed him in WSX and was a fan of his ever since.

Wow, that's really unfortunate. I wonder if this is why he retired early. I know he's wrestled a couple matches in last couple years though on some small indy shows, so I wonder if this is a new diagnosis or one he has been keeping under wraps.
He was one of my favorite parts of PWG when I first started going, and I miss him. Hope he takes care of himself going forward.

Shit that sucks. I'm in a spot where I can't listen to the podcast right now. Has he had it for a while and that's the reason he originally retired?

Well, this news ruined my day. I at least got to see him wrestle in person. I was too much of a wimp to go up to him and say hi. I really regret that.

if this is true (don't know the track records of these guys, but it seems a little odd that two guys most people of never heard of have this inside information that no other news site, podcast or just a pro wrestler giving an interview has ever alluded to) that sucks beyond belief. Tornado was always a favorite and i always wished he'd have greater success in wrestling than he did
also if its true, its in very poor taste for them to air his personal business out in public. he's not like that d-bag from Cleveland putting all the other wrestlers at risk. Tornado is retired and out of wrestling and his personal medical problems shouldn't be disclosed, especially on-air, by anyone other than himself (or at the very least with his consent)

Tornado is retired and out of wrestling and his personal medical problems shouldn't be disclosed, especially on-air, by anyone other than himself (or at the very least with his consent) Hmm as I mentioned I can't listen to the podcast right now, but just assumed this was a podcast featuring Tornado and the info came straight from him. As it stands there is no way for me to really formulate an opinion on a number of things. For instance Tornado has wrestled as recently as this year according to Wikipedia (in a one off, but still wrestling). So he potentially could have been wrestling knowing he had HIV and hiding it from others which would be a pretty bad thing from him to do. However, it is potentially just as likely that he knew he had HIV and let the promoter and whoever he worked fwith know and they were fine with it. After all X Pac is open that he has hepatitis C and has still wrestled a match here and there. Likewise, I don't know what the actual chance of catching HIV from a wrestling match is, but all involved might have thought it to be almost non-existent so everyone was okay with it. Some people with HIV do still have sex after all with people without the virus and you'd think that would be a much bigger risk of spreading the virus. Likewise, from what I've heard prior to this thread for years now is that Tornado has been going to SoCal indie shows and just been hanging out and getting high backstage. This could indicate depression from knowing he has HIV and wanting to get his mind off of it while hanging out with old friends. Yet, it is just as possible that he may not have HIV and just likes to get high and retired because he doesn't want to destory his body, but still likes hanging around with his old friends and the wrestling scene. So if this was TLDR, in summary all we can do is make wild speculations at this point. This should also really be pointed out in the OP as well rather than just state such a significant thing as fact.

I find this hard to believe. Until he says it himself, I don't believe this for a second.

Boy that 'Latest Status' is unfortunate. But if true, people live well into old age with HIV now. Thankfully no longer the death sentence it was.

I'm surprised there wasn't a rash of HIV infections in the late 70's-early 80's (or atleast one that we'd know about) when you consider all of the blading (before the product became family friendly with Hulkamania/WWF's national expansion), promiscuous sex with ring rats, and the general ignorance concerning AIDS at the time. I'm surprised you don't hear more cases about it (if this particular case is even true) in wrestling.

I first saw him post here before even knowing who he was. So him appearing in all these places was a bit of amazement. To me,Tornado will always be that crapper who found a wrestling following. Pretty cool.
