I guess, now's the time to amass paragraphs worth of my thoughts:
"John Cena, CM Punk, Sheamus, et al. wouldn't give up to the Wyatts like Bryan did"
The thing is, Bryan isn't like those guys. He's not some badass Irishman who cracks jokes and loves to fight. He's not a straight-edge badass who's not afraid to step on anyone's toes to get things done. He's not the WWE version of Superman who laughs off defeats and overcomes the odds. He's definitely not a beer-swilling anti-hero who kicks everyone's asses because he can. He's simply a dogged everyman who's been screwed and beaten up at every turn, and despite his best efforts, isn't going to get into the good graces of management anytime soon. Bryan has spent months and months battling with a trio of psychotic cultists who have (more often than not) left him laying, and perhaps he's had enough and wants to apparently "join" them.
"Bryan's turned heel..."
To quote Dean Ambrose, "Nope." Bryan has not done anything even remotely "heelish" yet. All he's done is apparently give in to his tormentors and ask if he could join The Family. Let's not get hasty. And even if he was a "heel", it'd probably be in a reluctant sense with Bryan battling his conscience on whether or not he truly wants to follow Bray's orders. Basically, in other words, the "John Cena joins The Nexus" angle done right. (Interestingly, this angle along with The Shield seem to be WWE's attempts to redo the Nexus angle, without ending on a whimper)
"LOL wait & see"
The angle has barely even begun, with only one final segment so far. Isn't it too early to write this off as "worst angle ever, WWE dropped the ball"?
"On another note..."
I'm getting the feeling that this development is a test to see if fans will continue to support Bryan even through tough times like this. It's probably why we had that CM Punk backstage interview video with him (who's one of the current top faces in WWE right now) basically asking fans to continue backing up Bryan. They could've easily had a video of Punk telling fans to stop cheering for Bryan because he "sold his soul to the devil" or whatever, but they didn't, and I think that's important to note. And I imagine that if they're not gonna go the route of "Bryan infiltrating the Wyatt Family and destroying them from within", it'll be a route of the fans snapping DB out of his funk and bringing him back to the side of the angels.

After having a day to digest it, I'm digging it more and more. I realised I'm letting something I want that may or may not happen in the future effect my enjoyment of a current storyline. They are doing something different with Bryan that we don't see too often, he isn't shrugging off being screwed, he's not making jokes about his opponent knowing he'll get another title shot, he's not spitting in the face of danger, he's human and he has his limits. I'm interested in seeing how they get to the pay-off and what this does for both parties. Oh, anyone else kinda hoping that Brays, I guess Crucifix pose has anything to do with the Hug It Out pose both Bryan and Kane displayed? That's where I am with it. I am trying to pull a Jeff Hardy and LIVE IN THE MOMENT, MAAAAANNN. The segment was dramatic as hell. I love the Wyatts. Bryan is the best thing going today. Is he messing with them? Do the Wyatts turn face? Is Bryan really a heel? Do they go after the Authority? Will Bryan ever win the title? Who knows? I don't have a set "this must happen otherwise this blows" end-game in mind. I came to the conclusion that he wasn't going to win the belt back for a while months ago, so I can't really still be pissed about that and assume this angle will suck because of that. I'm not going to stop watching because there's too much stuff I do like to throw in the towel completely. But if it sucks, I will definitely let everyone know how I much I hate it, lol.

@ To all the complainers Why do you watch WWE, if you dont trust them to do the right thing? Because there's more than one storyline going on, and thus other stuff to enjoy? I'm not even really a complainer, as I am curious to see where this is going, but it's an odd question. Like even if I'm not enjoying the main event stuff, and I haven't in a while; there's stuff like the excellent matches The Shield puts on to enjoy.

It's all building to the climax at wrestlemania when HHH faces Kevin Nash. Hearing that he's not big enough to be the face of the company, Bryan will order special pills off the internet that guarantee to make him huge. This leads to Ride of the Valkyries playing at the Rumble and Kevin Nash entering in undersized maroon trunks while doing the YES! chant. Immediately tears both elbows.

I am slightly the opposite. I do think there's still a good chance Bryan will still go on to win the WWE Championship. But there are so many scenarios that have been added to the current story that I have no way of knowing where it will go. Which is why I'm not hating on it, I'm actually very interested in seeing where they go with this.

But I'm not going to let "BRYAN'S NOT WINNING THE BELT AT MANIA THIS IS BULLSHIT" cloud my enjoyment of everying that happens with him going forward. There'd be no point for me to watch in that case.

I'm not going to stop watching because there's too much stuff I do like to throw in the towel completely. But if it sucks, I will definitely let everyone know how I much I hate it, lol. It was definitely dramatic, I felt things during that segment I hadn't felt before in wrestling. So much character development on Bryans part, more in one segment then most performers get across an entire career. It's nice to not have a storyline where I can predict where the hell it is going, this was always going to be one of those fantasy things people look back on in the years to come and wish they had done it purely for the possibilities of where it could go and for once, we don't have to wish, they are giving it to us. I'll be right there with you complaining if the storyline goes tits up, I was all in for the initial Authority storyline and after a few months my feelings completely flipped and all the letters capitalised. It's strange, despite the previous storyline I'm willing and wanting to give this one a chance. I guess that's the magic of Bryan, I can't NOT get behind him, no matter the storyline initially. Even if they f*** this one up, I'm probably going to give the next one a chance, then the next one, then the next one, then the next one.

Given the WWE's pattern of angles that start off interesting, why is it a surprise to people that quite a few fans are skeptical?
At this point I will say in theory and on paper it sounds unique and dramatic. However it wouldn't surprise me if WWE actually did turn Bryan heel out of this and completely ruin his momentum.

I will say the one thing that gives me faith that this angle will turn out okay is how well they executed the angle with The Shield.

The WWE isn't exactly WCW with the nWo, with guys joining them left and right. Any superfluous members of a stable are not likely to be a part of that stable.

I trust in Bryan to make this worthwhile. It's not great, but it's far from the kind of face-clawing disaster suggested elsewhere.
I do wonder more, if the Taker rumours are legit, how that could further change plans.
