From Wikipedia:
After setting Sting on fire in the Human Torch Match, there was a vignette on WCW Monday Nitro of Vampiro reporting his success to a dark, hooded figure. That figure was "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels.
I did not know that.

Yeah, Daniels was under contract with WCW, and made a couple appearances without his Fallen Angel attire.
That said, I never knew about this particular thing with Vampiro.

Yeah, I don't remember Daniels doing much in WCW as the Fallen Angel. He did a lot more "Christopher Daniels jobbing" gigs.

I remember Vampiro reporting to a hooded figure now that I saw this but I had no idea it was Daniels.

Didn't he get hurt in WCW or something?

Was he involved in the Cruiserweight Tag-Team title thing? Or am I getting confused with AJ?

It is correct that he got hurt. He went for an Arabian Press moonsault but his opponent was standing. Sometihng weird happened and he toppled hard backwards right onto his head. The clip's in various botch videos on YouTube.
And the cruiserweight tag tourney was AJ, who teamed with Air Paris.

Chris Daniel was a part of the late 2000 WCW roster but he went for a moonsault and broke his neck. When he recovered WCW was no more.

I remember that vingette also I can remember reading on a non-defunk website that he was set to sign to WCW and get a huge push in 2000. I was excited because at the time dubbayaceedubbaya needed a shot in the arm. then he never showed

For some reason that gives me an image of Daniels waking up in hospital many months after his accident. Let's say November 2001. Daniels: Oh, uuuuuuhh. What happened? Where am I? Doctor: Mr. Daniels, you suffered a rather serious neck injury, but luckily you'll be perfectly ok. Daniels: So, I'll still be able to wrestle? Doctor: Absolutely. You'll have no trouble getting back in the ring. Daniels: Great. I can't wait to get back to WCW. Doctor: I'm afraid WCW no longer exists. Daniels: What? Then maybe ECW. I could fit in there. Doctor: I'm sorry to inform you that ECW is gone too. It went bankrupt. WCW on the other hand was purchased by the WWF. Daniels: NOOOOOO! This is bullshit! * Gives an "Angel's Wings" to the Doctor.* Don West: OH MY GOD! ANGEL'S WINGS! YOU'VE GOTTA BE KIDDING MEEEEEEE! Jeff Jarrett: Hmmm... This gives me an idea...

I remember he had a try out match on Nitro once.. that's it. He botched a moonsault too. Ayup, against Michael Modest. Scott Steiner came in and moidalized 'em both, so it was a no-contest. I also want to say it was outdoors, so probably during a spring break.

I just think it was when Nitro was regulary being broadcast at Universal in the outdoor thing.
