I just don't get it. What is it about the word 'moist' that freaks some people out? I have an aunt who claims to get literally nauseous if you say the word in front of her enough times, and the only explanation you get from her about is "I just hate the sound of it". But why? What's so terrible about 'moist'? Does anyone on this board have a problem with the word, or even some other word that has a similar effect on them?

It's just a gross sounding word; I won't get nauseous if I hear it, but it's not a pleasant word.

I was not aware that people had a problem with it.

I'm not being sexist in the slightest, but everyone I know who has a problem with it is female.

I see it in graffiti around town sometimes. We also had a bunch of snails back in the day.

Amusingly enough this came up in conversation with friends on Saturday, also it was the girl who had the problem with her fella saying it.
I associate it with cake so have no problem with it.

I dunno some people just don't like the way it sounds for some reason. I have no problem with it, but just the way the syllables sound together send triggers to people.

It sounds dirty...
(The Frantics did a longer version of this skit on their TV show "4 On The Floor", including the word "moist", but I couldn't find the video for it. You'll get the idea from this clip, though.)

It just sounds really awkward as well when trying to talk dirty as well, I prefer wet to moist
