I am thinking about getting rid of satellite TV. I really enjoy having it for wrestling. If I get rid of it I'd be saving $75 a month. I keep going back and forth, just can't decide.

I don't have any television and am still able to watch what I want. Youtube and similar sites can fill your void for a lot of the stuff you watch, and some channels put the shows up online on their site the day after they air on TV.
Just my opinion though, hope its helpful.

I got rid of satellite TV a while ago myself. There is life beyond it.

But, TV respects you. It laughs with you, not at you.

What you have to ask yourself is is having satellite TV providing you with anything you can't get any other way, such as the internet?
$75 a month is a lot of money to spend on something if it doesn't give you anything unique.

Yeah, I hear ya. I almost never watch TV anymore, haven't watched it properly since 2005. The Internet does the job better and you can watch everything when you want instead of waiting for it to be on.
When I move out, I wont be getting cable or satelite

Would not do want to do without my satellite. It's not cheap but don't really go out much in married middle-agedom so we get plenty of use out of it. I already have netflix, maybe with hulu-plus too I wouldn't mind so much outside of football season. I'm just not down with stealing via pirate-sites so I would miss my premium channels.

If it wasn't for live sports and wrestling I would ditch satellite all together. Unfortunately the NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, and WWE have me by the balls.

I got rid of my satellite tv ages ago and don't miss it. Honestly, in the age of the tinterwebs, I don't see why people bother. Why get ripped off by extortionate satellite tv prices when you can log on the internet and access whatever shows, movies and whatever you like at a few clicks of a button?

The only problem is that i think you need a cable connection to get cartoon network (you can watch them online, but if your cable provider doesnt have CN then you cant, as i learned when cable one briefly lost the turner channels), and considering i watch CN a lot..

Yeah, with the announcement of WWE Network and the massive and unnecessary problems I had with Time Warner the last few years, I'm seriously considering getting rid of cable all together. Looking at what's on my DVR the only shows I have scheduled that give me pause are Doctor Who, DreamWorks Dragons, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Venture Bros. But I'm almost positive I'll be able to find these online somewhere, and if not I'll just wait for the DVD from Netflix. Heck, I can switch my internet to FiOS and not have to deal with Time Warner at all anymore.
