fatphobic? ugh, good lord people seem to go out of their way these days to be offended by anything. People today act as if being offended by something more than someone else is a type of noble venture. And then people act like being offended at others being offended is somehow better. Not sure if you are implying that I was being offended at people being offended but I never gave the impression I was offended. I just marvel sometimes that people like to toot their own horns by being offended anytime someone mentions something uncomplimentary to a person or a group of people. Some people are fat, the lions share of them get that way by consuming more calories than they burn. A fish gets stuck in a tub and eats and doesn't move... it's probably going to gain weight and eventually be fat. I don't see how this is a violent expression of hatred towards obese.

Can we just talk about the picture in my OP? Do you think it's fatphobic? I don't really get the nomenclature that the tumble is using, because fatphobic implies an irrational fear of fat people, and the picture doesn't represent that. I think weightist or something of that nature would be a more accurate term, but even then the quest doesn't really represent it. It's not telling anyone to hate fat people or that fat people are automatically undignified, it's saying that that character, when she lost her gem and got angry and gluttonous (commonly associated with greed) was behaving in an undignified manner.

I have more problems with straggly neckbeards than I do fat dudes. QUIT YOUR NECKBEARD-PHOBIA THIS INSTANT! You 'normies' keep persecuting people with neckbeards for something they can't change. I bet your smooth neck privilege makes you feel so good about treating people who can't afford expensive electrolysis treatments like they're subhuman. You don't know that true beauty comes from inside, and every person should be on the cover of GQ or Cosmopolitan just for being themselves! If I had a GIF to help me out here, you would be SO destroyed...

I apologize for being curt (had a couple things on the mind bugging me before) but I don't think anybody mentioned "violent" in their description of it. Seems more tasteless if anything, for reasons that some of us have said more times than we bother to remember in this thread already. It's not that the character is fat, it's what's associated with the character while she's fat vs. how she's presented while thin. It's largely a joke, and I find it mostly harmless, but I think it's equally a stretch to say "how can anybody find this offensive". My point is that other people taking offense at something really has very little to impact on the lives of the vast majority of people, and often the people have a point concerning where they're coming from. Given the choice between people doing stuff like that too often, to the point where some are stretching and/or being overly reactionary, and not having it happen at all, I'll take the former every time, since it's one of the only ways society ever really makes moves toward often necessary changes. And yeah, the game does have other overweight characters who aren't presented negatively, and that's great; does it mean somebody can't find the segment in the OP tasteless, anyway? I think too often people hear somebody taking offense at something and think the person's ascribing gigantic malicious intent to the people who made it. Yeah, some people do that, and something they're right and sometimes they're wrong, but most of the time it's not saying "these developers ACTIVELY HATE fat people/women/LGBT people/whatveer", it's saying "this part of the game seems offensive to </insert group here>", which is very different.

So we've got to worry about being fatphobes now? Tremendous. Sounds like this guy has a bad case of humorphobia. He needs to keep his ignorant, humorphobic opinions to himself!
By the way, Link Between Worlds is awesome.

By the way, Link Between Worlds is awesome. If we're just being polite, then there's nothing to "worry" about. Nobody's going to get in trouble or arrested or censored or anything. And yes, Link Between Worlds indeed kicks ass.

Is 'fatphobia' seriously a thing now? f***ing hell.
The whole idea of 'fat shaming' is ridiculous, in my opinion. The whole ordeal over the 'plus-size' Barbie infuriates me. Yeah, you don't want little girls becoming anorexic, I can totally understand that. But at the same time, I think it's irresponsible to tell them it's okay to be fat. Maybe I'm wrong, but being obese/overweight seems to be just as unhealthy.
But yeah, Link Between Worlds! Great game.
