....He'll be playing Pym, with Rudd as Scott Lang. marvel.com/news/movies/2014/1/13/21746/michael_douglas_to_star_as_hank_pym_in_marvels_ant-manAnd I'm out. We shall never get the original 5 moment on screen, and for that, I'm so unbelievably disappointed that I will go out of my way to avoid seeing this movie. It isn't a matter of Pym vs Lang fandom either, it's literally that since this film was announced I've been hoping for the proper original 5 to appear together and now, we wont get that. So this movie, not for me.

I'm intrigued. Sure, we're not going to get the original 5 on-screen fighting all at once, but that's not gonna make me skip a movie. I really think you should give it a chance too guys.

While I am a little disappointed seeing as I wanted Hank Pym to be the main character and not Scott Lang, I'm alright with the decision. It's not as if Edgar Wright is pulling a Geoff Johns and pretending that Scott Lang was the only Ant-Man that ever existed.

So Edgar Wright got his way after all.......
And with that I cease to care. Sorry but Pym is Ant Man to me. He should be the central character of an Ant Man film. I also echo the sentiment of being disappointed that once Ant Man joins the Avengers in the MCU it won't be Pym, one of the founding damn characters!

Damn it Marvel, stop letting Edgar Wright shit all over one of the founding Avengers. It's been clear since day one that he has no passion for the material and just wants to f*** it all up the same way Bryan Singer f***ed up the X-Men. This makes it so we can never get Goliath or Yellow Jacket, and probably rules out Janet, too.
I can't wait to see this movie flop, because it will. They've alienated the comic fans, who are the only people who give two shits about Ant-Man. That only leaves the mainstream audience to rely on, and I'm sorry, but as soon as they see the title "Ant-Man", they're going to scoff and laugh and that will be that. I'm calling it now, this movie will be Marvel Studios' first commercial failure.

Maybe make her a young assistant/secretary, or considering it is Michael Douglas, a young socialite arm candy. Point is they can still jam Janet in there, but yeah no Goliath or Yellow Jacket unless they decide to screw things up and eventually make Lang Goliath/Yellow Jacket.

Variety posted a story to their website indicating that Pym is actually going to be the villain, taking the Vernan Van Dyne spot. That would make Janet his daughter. This story has since been removed.
So Scott can shack up with Janet instead.
And Tony's got Ultron.
So Pym is just the butt of the joke all over.

Well.....considering how they handled Iron Man's #1 foe should we be surprised that Marvel is allowing such liberties with their characters now?

Remember when us comic nerds were all excited that Marvel had their own movie studio and were going to self-produce films, because it would ensure that no more Marvel properties would get the Hollywood f***-up treatment? We were wroooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong.

They were doing so well with Rudd as well, I love that guy and can't wait for him to do stuff outside of the comedy realm (which I am sure he will be just as good at), this just seems like a weird choice for a Marvel movie (I can't say specifically about the Ant Man as I don't really know of the character/history/cannon compared to other more well known comics books that I have read/heard about on the web)

Phase 2 so far has been underwhelming for me
- Iron Man 3 was shit - Thor 2 was good at best
Hopefully cap 2 saves it.

Wow, ok if they seriously make Hank the villain of the Ant-man movie... I'll probably just complain online... but yeah... that would be absolutely stupid and if true they aren't getting my money. And it always irks me that they like saying Tony invented Ultron in other media... is it so hard to throw the genius roboticist a bone? Hell if they still want to pull the Tony is ultimately responsible card you can have a throw away line about him tinkering with Hank Pym's design or something.

It's funny seeing the defence of this all over other sites.
Only here amongst FAN are people agreeing with my disappointment

So, I'm the only one who doesn't mind this...only for one reason.
I doubt Hank is going to be the villain.
Pym will probably be part of the old Agents of Shield with ties to Howard Stark and Scott Lang works with him and discovers the Pym Particles.
