I just discovered a big one of mine. Excessive use of the word really. It's like I use it every paragraph. I'm no better with the word totally, using it like an immature teenager.

I haven't seen it much lately, but people thinking that "loose" and "lose" are interchangeable.
"Go for the promotion, man! You've got nothing to loose".
NOOOOO.

when it comes to typing. Usually when doing so quick (like chat and such) it's hitting the space bar wrong when typing "the" following something and making "wordt he"

The biggest one I see people making is using $10 words when a $1 word would do just fine.

"Could of" instead of "could have" is a very easy mistake to make, but I do not understand why Your/You're abd Their/They're/There are so difficult for some people.
"It's" always means it is, and "its" is how you show that an it possesses something. Many get that wrong, as well.

Not writing...but bad grammar is what really bothers me.
Nobody seems to know it anymore.

The lack of quotations from one paragraph to the next, then using the quotations again anew when one person or thing is being quoted.
The terms moving forward, full stop, and any other corporate speak in email. Just ugh. Can you use your own words, pls?
Defining words by using the root word or the word itself in the definition.

I have numerous things I'm well aware I do incorrectly, but I don't care if being casual anymore.
I know the rules. I love our language and hypocritically hate to see it misused.
I let hiccups slide though. If your points are there and I can feel you, your tense issues and run-ons, the occasional mispelled word and such doesn't offend me. (just as I hope mine doesn't you)
I HATE internet English though.
Somehow we have this ideal now where chumps think that
"YUR VID SUX U R A HOMO." = "I'm normally a fan of your work, but I didn't care for the creative direction you chose on this particular entry and here's why..."
The loss of the art bugs me, but not as much as the loss of legitimate discussion does.

People confuse "insure" and "ensure" a lot.
Same with "except" and "accept".

You need to use a word that means the same as totally, but is different. Hey nr1humanoid, do you like submarine sandwiches? All-encompassingly!

One thing that people comment a lot on my writing is that I use a very visual descriptive style, which makes my stuff read more like screenplays or stage directions than prose. Which I guess makes sense since I'm mostly influenced by comics and movies.

I use parenthetical phrases as a running commentary or aside related to whatever I'm saying.
I also hate when people use apostrophes incorrectly to denote plurality.
Its/It's is one I screw up all the time though.
Incorrect homophobe usage also irks me. There/They're/Their mostly.
Not a personal one, but "You ARE good, you DO well". Good is an adjective, things are good. Well is an adverb, actions, including the act of "doing", are done well. Unless you're performing an action that is beneficent (I.e Charity work or similar) you're not "Doing good".

I have an annoying tendency when writing an article or even a post on here to think of a phrase I like and then use it multiple times within said post or article. Ironically I once did this with the phrase 'creative bankruptcy.'
